Aside all the fuzz about the qualy crash and VER reaction to it, didn't we see the promising glimpses of the potential of the spec 4 PU and fuel? In Q3 Ferrari was only 0.1 s faster in S1! That was the biggest surprise for me. May be the Honda comparison graph isnt too far from the truth...
I know that cooling also has effects on the maximum power mode you can run, and setup an tyre management, but it was impressive imo.
I think it has more to do with DF than the PU. Also it's a short track so, in quali, you have less track for a full charged battery. So just saying their is more than just air density at play.

I blame Max for the penalty. The stewards only investigated after his comments. If only had Max done a vettel and replied by saying he lifted off, it would not have been investigated.

Its going to haunt him as now he is in the dirty side and likes of Hamilton amd Albon will get a good launch at start.
Yep he only has himself to blame. Be humble! You can't go on TV and tell everyone that you broke the reg and not expect to be penalized.
He did answer the question truthfully. I would have too said something along the lines of Lewis did yesterday to explain his own failure to go off the gas (it all went so quick, I hardly realised it) or Rosberg back in 16 (I lifted) the data would have proven it. But that is not how Max operates. He, indeed bluntly, says what he thought. Much like Kimi in Spa 17.

This is now the second time hope it was the last.
I really like Max, I enjoy his interviews, especially post FP sessions, qualifying etc. He gives very articulate assessments about car behaviour, track conditions and the likes. You get a bit more insight when Max is being talked to. As usual, in the PC yesterday, he was honest, which isn’t the real problem. The real problem was that he was also very flippant, which lost him a brilliant pole. But I think just like last year, he’ll be a lot more fired up. He’s still my favourite for the win, all things being equal.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Like we saw in Austria, as long as there’s no first lap contact resulting in performance reducing damage. I think his pace is so strong that a bad start with a few positions lost won’t be the end of the matter.

He is on the dirty side and the Ferrari will fly off to the distance. I think even Albon will be ahead of him.

in Austria they went full risk and used the highest engine mode for the the whole 2nd half of the race. If they can do the same here, there's no competition indeed

Max damn it Max. First qualification, now the race. He all complains about the engine, the chassis and said that he did not believe in victory this year, but in the end missed the victory himself.

If he blames the engine after pissing away points like this, it will be really sad. Hope the father doesnt come out blaming the team again

Max have been making a lot of errors but Marko & bosses don't tell him to improve and up his game the blame get shifted.they tell him he great and wonderful the best in f1 he walks on water. F1 is a game of continuous improvement, and putting your egg in one driver basket don't help imagine if they had a Riccardo or competitive Gasly if he got the attention and help he deserves

Agreed. I weekend to forget. Not materialising on a dominant pole is this time Max to blame. Coincidence or not after Albon stepped in beside him (and horror crash in F2 in Belgium) he seems less focused, or more prone to errors. Too many first lap incidents.

honestly the sport is corrupt to start of. the penalty was harsh, if this car was painted red , they would have got a yellow card warning instead of a penalty like that of charles in monza(unbelievable). I hope honda just pull out , i like honda but in a political biased governing body like FIA which loves ferrari as bernie mentioned previously its difficult.

99% wasted weeked due to childish behaviuor. To be honest comparing Hamilton and Max is comparing child and fully grown man. A lot to think about for our first pilot....

Shame that Sainz battled Albon with a nonsense agressive way, maybe he could've ended near the top guys. At least it was a solid race for him. Max recovery was great, just to show him that he could win the race only with more calm moves... #-o
