Post here all non technical related topics about Formula One. This includes race results, discussions, testing analysis etc. TV coverage and other personal questions should be in Off topic chat.
-Strong engine (The Type 056 engine is one of the most powerful on the grid)
-Easy on its tyres (The tyres don't wear badly in hot or damp conditions)
-Efficient aerodynamics (The Ferrari has been at the top of the speed traps for many races during the year...until the last few where Mclaren had the edge)
-Very drivable engine (In the dry, the engine maps help the driver a lot - low speed traction is good)
Other than that, the differences are too minute to be able to put into laymans terms - suspension dynamics are one of them.
What makes it good? Extensive development. High aerodynamic efficiency. Well-developed engine. Efficient use of tires. Well-tuned suspension. Same stuff that makes any race vehicle a solid performer.
Grip is a four letter word. All opinions are my own and not those of current or previous employers.
Hi human01, welcome to the forum. Don't forget a substantial budget. Although Toyota seems to go against this fact, it takes a lot of money to go fast(er).
Racing should be decided on the track, not the court room.
I think Ferrari is made of people who are really committed. Just look at the number of laps they tested in Barcelona. Some say they are a rich team, I agree but so is Toyota and Mclaren. Ferrari still works harder than others.
Also, despite less TV time than supa-star Hamilton. Massa and Kimi are both very committed and very talented drivers. I think that makes Ferrari the team to beat.
Just look at Mclaren, they often have internal politics and Toyota is kinda lazy...
technically, I think Michael Schumacher contribute a lot in the Development to make the car fast. Michael knows what he wants and he know the stuff he wants will make the car fast. He has always been right.
Just look at the F430 and California road car. you can see beautiful interior, Stereo sound system, a performance beast under the hood and yet they have a computer that make sure you don't crash and make a fool of yourself. That is Italian passion combine with German perfection and that is the same occurrence with the F1 team.
