Mercedes have made Valtteri start on used tyres now? it seems a bit odd
They are allowing him to have a go at pole position (even though he has grid penalty) and to show that he is as fast or faster than Lewis. Maybe merc wants him to feel better due to his recent circumstances
But if he gets pole, it'll just be "Brand New PU"
It was literally the only reason to make him use up all his tyres, allowing him a shot at pole for his ego ... and he still had no chance despite a brand spanking new engine.

Leclerc just said he will 'take some risks' at the start as he has to get ahead of Verstappen, who like Vettel won't be shy either.

Could get a bit spicy....
Also Ferrari might want to let Vettel through to make the most of his Soft tyres.

So how do Ferrari get pole and win in Singapore, which is a whole lap like sector 3 in Abu Dhabi

And in S3 here, they are losing 6 tenths!
Your comparing a Pre USA car (Singapore winner) to the current car. We know what is different 8)
So this is a closed case now , because some still say the PU hasn't changes since Singapore

Yup, the recent technical directive has really slowed them down!!! :D
after all such tricks wont last forever
So the directives made Ferrari lose time in the corners? Makes sense.

On the long straight they were 5 km/h faster than Redbull and 7 km/h faster than Mercedes today.
Why do you even try? Just let them...
I know, I'm looking forward to February, Ferrari once again will dominate Winter Testing! It's a good way to end the season. No holds barred racing tomorrow and the coveted Ferrari Black T bar is still up for grabs!

Seriously dude. It is obvious Ferrari lost a significant smt.
Yup, Just look at the results after summer break

1. Beligum - Pole, race win
2. Monza - Pole, race win
3. Singapore - Pole, race win
4. Russia - Pole, race win lost due to engine failure; not due to poor race pace
5. Japan - Pole, race win lost due to poor start; not due to poor race pace
6. Mexico - Pole, race win lost due to poor strategy; not due to poor race pace

7. Austin: here comes the first Technical directive - no pole, race was even poor (despite some claiming they are running new high downforce setup to increase their race pace and hence sacrificing the pole position)
8. Brazil: here comes furthur clarification and seizing of parts to investigation by the FIA - no pole , race was even poor (despite some claiming they are running new high downforce setup to increase their race pace and hence sacrificing the pole position)
9. Abudabhi: here comes furthur clarifications by the FIA - no where near pole

And people still claim that they are just changing their setups etc, despite showing that it was poor option even at Austin, and any arm chair experts can say that from Brazil onwards they would go back to their pole and race win setup, but no they still using high downforce setup and also it seems after abudabhi qualy they are just 0.073 sec faster in the straights sector (so they are still running high DF setup according to some)...

But for others it is clear that after the TD and seizing of parts they are waayyy slower in qualifying and even more poor in the races!.... so from this we can safely say that they have lost their performance after the TD.

Completely agree. There's no other theory that makes complete sense for the last 3 races.

One has to wonder if all this PU talk is just take the spot light from incredible advances Mercedes made with tire management. Especially considering that poor tire management was their trademark for many years. Now they are suddenly magical.

Poor tyre management at mercedes?? are you talking about 2013 season? coz from 2014 onwards they have been pioneer in tyre management and race pace.

Have you actually watched those 6 races? Only race Ferrari had good pace was a track with NO tire degradation - Russia

They had some problems in 2017 at least compared to Ferrari but they solved that pretty much during the season.

same question to you...they were only poor on race pace in Monza and marginally in Singapore. Rest they could easily stay in their pole position slot and had the pace to win >> which is the most important thing in the current era!

No they haven't. This was their single greatest weakness over the years. As for race pace, 2017 Ferrari was a better race car.
But that was a time when pole was a king...

Those were in the first few races when they couldnt break away from the ferraris, but after the summer break they just solved them then and there it self (this was due to Ferrari asking for clarification on suspensions systems used by mercedes and redbull). but we cannot say that as poor tyre management!

This is just not true. They had some pace at beginning of the stints, but would fall off after 5-10 laps...
In Mexico Hamilton had better pace with 50 laps old H than Leclerc with 20 laps old. In Belgium Hamilton was second a lap quicker then Leclerc during end of the race. In Japan same story
