Pat Symonds says the depth of research used to improve Formula 1 has gone as far as monitoring skin responses of fans to work out what excites those watching races.
Which fans? If it's the "we want 100 overtakes every lap" fans then they'll get different results from the "an overtake that takes four corners to set up and even then isn't a certainty" types.
I'd hope we're all in the latter group...
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.
If they wire up a 1000 Verstappen fans at Zandvoort, he has an engine blow up on lap 5, Hamilton wins with a great strategy and the ferrari's and bottas have an amazing race and battle for 2nd. The fans go home miserable.
F1 needs to change.
If they wire up a 1000 Verstappen fans at Zandvoort, he is on pole, leads every lap, wins by 30 seconds, the Mercs are 2nd and 3rd, Ferrari's 4th and 5th. The fans go home amazed by what they saw and loved every second. F1 doesn't need changing.
Same goes for Ferrari at Monza, Hamilton at Silverstone ect ect. All a bit pointless IMO.
Besides, like Just_a_fan said, They will probably wire up fans who enjoy seeing crashes ect
