The car looks pretty nice on the daylight... The highlight for me today is that it seems no major issues with the car during the shakedown, which is the best news out of it.

Just a few more days until testing... Will be interesting to see how much the team improved versus previous season... Sector 3 times will probably be the ones to look at closely.

Ending filming day with a quick pitstop. I imagine a lot of work has gone into it since this was a particular area of weakness past few years. Let’s see if they can show progress during the season.

About a tenth/lap in race pace on the more demanding circuits, very little in qualifying mode.
Not doubting you PhillipM, (your on the ball most of the time 👍), but where did you find this info ?

I'd consider a tenth to be a little disappointing to be honest.

I also read an article about a month ago, where Taffin specifically mentions the 0.1s increase in race pace. But, I can’t seem to find that now.
And yes, a tenth is disappointing progress, considering the strides being made by other manufacturers who are already ahead.

the car really looks amazing on track, looks like they are measuring flow to the front brakeducts, or just protecting, with that metal thing, at the back though, they are meassuring the flow at the floor, please let the numbers be good

When you say the car look's amazing on track is that you mean it look's planted in the corners? or do you mean livery wise?

Have any other manufacturers came out and said how much more lap time / power they are having this year? Not really... The fact that for once Renault is not making bold claims in terms of power increases it’s a welcome change in my opinion.

The Renault wasn’t lacking in power in 2019 compared to the others, trap speeds were always on the decent side and not a lot of difference against the the rest of the cars in the midfield (the top 3 were in a different league and not really a comparison point).

If the changes that Renault has made are allowing the team to achieve their aero targets, the gain in lap time thanks to the packaging could be larger than just power alone from the PU.

Finally, with this been the final season with Renault and with no expectations of fighting for wins (regardless of the engine used), it doesn’t seem to be that huge of a deal.

Improved reliability and durability “could” also lead to the team being able to access more power outside of the improvements made on the PU elements. Not saying that’s the case, just a possibility in my opinion.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

I hope they push the car a little in day 1 of testing. I am particularly interested in the sector 3 times. Low speed corners were their weakness last season, if they are faster there that will probably translate to a lot of laptime in almost all circuits. Also observing direction change in t1 and t2 will be interesting, and considering we have proper coverage this year for both tests, I am hoping we got some great shots.
They will most likely push the car harder in test 2, however last season they started relatively quickly in day 1 (second fastest lap time iirc). Mileage is probably the most important thing still. I bet they have to verify a lot of things considering the new philosophies present in the car this year.

So do you people think we might be able to reduce the gap in half against the first three and be able to increase our gap from our chasers?

I mean, McLaren was on average 1.2-1.7 seconds off the pace last year and had a gap of ~0.2-0.4 behind(when they were ahead). Assuming the top 3 has improved by 0.5 seconds, McLaren needs to find over a second to keep the gap consistently at <1s. It's not that easy to find one second in one year. McLaren found almost 2 from 2018 to 2019 but on 2018 the car was flawed and improvements were expected. This time it will be much harder, and the competition for 4th will probably be fiercer as well as I believe Racing Point might be very competitive this season.

According to the Spanish media the goal is to reduce the gap to the top three with half a second.

You never know actually. The 2019 car had an incredible weakness during specific parts of the track. Considering last year the team was being built this year we have a team who has made the car by themselves and not inherited someone else's car. I expect many things from James Key. So I hope we will have made a big step again compared to our rivals. It is essential in order to go into the title fight next year. In any case the tests this week will give us a first taste. Fingers crossed and hope for the best.
