Williams FW43

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

No big changes in concept, design team have focussed on specific areas that will produce the biggest gains

Williams must be the only team that hasn’t integrated the steering arm into one of the wishbones. That strikes me as a free aero gain for very little mechanical complication.

The cape on the comparison photo is the one from earlier in last season. I can’t find a good photo of the later one online but there are some in the FW42 thread. The new cape looks closer to the old FW42 one in appearance

The elements on top of the boomerang are a nice detail.

Looks like a nice development of last year's troubled car! Seems like Williams took last year's concept and tried to "clear" it making it a bit less complex!

Maybe that's what they need...less complexity! The radiator inlet and the sidepods right behind it look really nicely sculpted! I believe their problem is correlation and complexity of their aero concept!

Since 2018 i feel that Williams tried to use too many design concepts on the same car! The FW43 seems a bit more refined in that respect! =D>

I’m really surprised. That’s a sexy and fast looking car.

The downward slope of the sidepods is reminiscent to me of the coanda exhaust era.

livery looks great. car itself really great and not that underdeveloped as last year. Will be interessting how close they come to the rest of the field.

Aero concept wise the car is very similar to how the rest of the field is converging. Here's hoping it is a good improvement to put them in the mix rather than dragging behind the rear.

Some similarities with the Merc.

Hopefully it will allow them to at least fight with other teams

It appears to be a lot more developed and competitive. It would incredible to have a competitive machinery to see what Russell can do. :)

I'm not sure wether you are talking/seeing guiding vanes on the floor (which definitely do not exist at the present) like the ones Mercedes and Red Bull use or the the little vanes on the boomerang (which do exist).

To me it looks like there are 2, 1 kind of little one dangling from the side impact structure and a much bigger one to the right of that which seems to merge into the sidepod
