detailed pics on 1981 BRABHAM BT49

Post

Hello, I did a detailed section about the BRABHAM BT49, world champion in 1981 with Nelson PIQUET ( http://www.gurneyflap.com/ ). It is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful Formula 1, and with its pure ground effect (with the sliding skirts) maybe the most efficient car ever. It produced more than 2000 Kg of downforce without any front wing and a with a very little rear wing.

I little while ago when i was studying how aerodynamics could be implemented in a F Student car I became "inlove" with the design of the ground effect cars of late 70's, specially the Lotus T-79. In deed they where very efficient cars in term of aerodynamics and to me they are as beautifull as today's cars.

If it produced 2000 kg of downforce do you know how much power you should have to push that downforce. :!:
