is he retiring? or leaving for 1 year and come back on 2020 after rule change Like Alonso?
I think he is retiring.

Vettel: "What’s been happening in these past few months has led many of us to reflect on what are our real priorities in life. One needs to use one’s imagination and to adopt a new approach to a situation that has changed. I myself will take the time I need to reflect on what really matters when it comes to my future."

I think we will see some really surprising retirements this or next year. Formula 1 will never be the same.

And I think, that is good.

Who do you think is going to go?

Vettel’s seat is pretty safe. Philip Morris is pretty conservative when it comes to driver choices. They want by all times a (former) world champion. As long as Alonso doesn’t make a surprise visit to Lausanne, their only option is Seb.
Oh really?

I fear so. But there is still the chance on a less exposed seat like Renault or McLaren with much less PR events. That would also fit the "priorities in life".

If not...I think it is a big loss for F1, as he is a real character, who goes with emotions. Not much left besides Ves, Rai or to some degree Lec...the rest is just streamlined PR machines. And Rai will most probably also retire soon.

Vettel is fast, has good work ethic. His biggest flaw is cracking under pressure, makes silly mistakes when under pressure. That, and having LeClerc as his teammate. Seeing LeClerc be top level with anything he races, whether real or virtual has to be hard. Vettel would have to accept being a No.2 as LeClerc is a generational talent along with George Russell.

What a surprise, I knew they had contract negotations and those did not went smooth but I always believed Vettel will stay with Ferrari. On the other side I think this is the best for all and this move now open's the driver market again.

They made him an offer, not the best offer... he decided not to take it. Not like they already had another driver and just said “goodbye“.

By that logic, Max should have lost his seat long back!

Two options - Vettel believe that 2021 (2022?) new regulations have potential to make even Renault or Mclaren on top, or he just said "it's enough" and retired.

Personally ive always hated how the lead driver gets a veto on his team-mate.. but its been happening in f1 for years. The establishment was VER HAM and VET... now we are seeing VER LEC HAM and we just need to see who can join the party. But for me its always a negative selection when a team plumps for a 'weaker' driver to appease the lead driver.. I mean if your lead driver starts having an 'off' season then who have you got them to pick up the fight. VET and LEC ruined this year for ferrari and the race in Brazil was the culmination. If Ferrari throw their weight behind LEclerc that's fine, but please don't put another lame driver in the second car.. i mean its a ferrari- give it to a good driver- Sainz/Ricciardo/ even Perez.... id hate to see a guy like Stroll end up there (trust me it could happen)...

Really? You want me to list out all the incidents in the past 5 years of Max? For someone with zero titles against someone who has 4 titles, that scale looks awfully one sided!
