Valtteri Bottas lead the Austrian Grand Prix from start to finish, but it was behind him that all the action happened. Multiple retirements and collisions caused just 11 cars at the finish, with Leclerc and Norris surprisingly joining Bottas on the podium.
Mercedes.....where to start.......Ignoring the SC AGAIN and then actually not reacting to the 5 second penalty by allowing Hamilton to go and get a big enough gap to keep 2nd.

Surely they’ll have to revert that penalty? No way that was a 5s when Hamilton was into that corner with full lock the entire corner?!
It's such a rubbish penalty it's not even funny. They could have at least thought about how that corner is entirely downhill and would force cars to go to the outside naturally.
A driver of Hamiltons level should have anticipated that and leave Albon space.

He did. They made contact before albon reached the edge of the track. Besides, as Verstappen showed last year, if you are on the inside, the corner is yours, right?
Mercedes really shout themselves in the foot there.
Very poor calling the race off halfway through which led them into the situation that followed, where they made a string of poor decisions which cost them that 1-2 they arrogantly tried to manufacture.
Karma for Red Bull with their whining
Karma for Mercedes with trying to manufacture a race result.
Hilarious! Mercedes refuse to take the free pitstop and then let their lead driver (who played a blinder) back his title rival into the pack!
On top of that, we now know that you can't just take the racing line out of a corner, even if you are ahead and on the inside going into it. Ferrari really should protest last year's result. Will Norris get a penalty for being behind Perez and punting him? How long until we know all the claims and counter-claims are put in? How long until we know the actual podium?
I don't think Norris will get a penalty the move with Perez was basically due to Pere taking the racing line and Norris being in a position where he couldn't really give any more room.

Can a time penalty even be contested? I didnt think so...
I mean Ferrari tried last year in Canada
You know, even if they did and it was, overturning a result is always bad. I really expect more of the stewards of a f1 race in regards to such a decision. Really disappointing.
Really good drive by Norris & Leclerc.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II #Team44 supporter

It's just a racing incident.
I agree. But I thought Albon/Hamilton was too and, apparently, if you are on the inside and behind at the point of contact then it's a 5 second penalty. At least Hamilton was ahead going into the corner, Norris wasn't even that.

If you are ahead. Verstappen was ahead, and so was albon.
