Ocon's pace during the race didn't really look impressive indeed. But the Red Bull Ring is special, and it wasn't really a good track for them last year as well. Too early to come to a conclusion.

If this is true is good for the sport, but Renault will need to fix their car ASAP if they want to avoid Alonso going crazy again

Good news!

Realistically the best driver available to Renault (better than Bottas, Vettel, Hulkenberg, Gasly, Grosjean, Magnussen or Zhou, IMO), so quite a coup by Abiteboul indeed. I suppose Hamilton is technically off-contract, but Hamilton signing with Renault would seem unlikely. Such a sharp driver signing!

The Spanish two-time world champion, who will be 39 later this month, has signed and will be confirmed soon, sources have told BBC Sport.

I guess that is still an option IF Ocon is especially poor. Alonso + Hulkenberg is a solid albeit experienced rather than youthful driver lineup.

Pat Symonds is a good operator. I think the chassis is in good hands... The excellence at Viry speaks for itself, the Renault is arguably the second best power unit.

While the McLaren team seems more on the up than Renault, a year is a long time in motor racing.

Good News. AS the rules are changing in 2022, if Renault use it then there is a chance for Alonso to become WDC with Renault in 2022. I hope they will sign for 2 years only.

I hope the pack will be lot closer due to homologue of certain part of car. Hope the best.

Great to have Alonso back he’s such a strong all around driver he is a great addition for Renault.

Also, the car isn’t as bad as the Austria result suggests in my opinion- they’re tightly matched and close to Racing Point and McLaren. Pat Fry should do a good job of giving them a strong base to work with for 2022 onwards.
