Mercedes W11

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I also saw Hamilton using it on the formation lap. What was strange is that he playing with it quite a lot, moving forwards and back. It would be good if we had the onboard footage of Hamilton on the formation lap.

If you have the F1 streaming service, you can see the over the shoulder onboard cam anytime the car is on track. I saw him do it alot in the formation lap as well, but then never really saw him touch it after that.

Normally I’d post this in the team thread but there’s some good technical info/pics in this edition.

Apparently, Bottas was losing 2 tenths of a second per lap in the last stage of the race (due to damage to the rear tire seal area of the floor and one more location).

That completely changes the context of his ability to easily reel in VER after clearing the backmarkers. Makes it more impressive and offsets VER’s own damage.

Bottas did say it wasn’t very difficult to get around that bull either, very ominous.....

Well done mate!
Thank you my friend!

During the press conference today, Hamilton said the W11 is the best car he's driven at Mercedes. Pretty high praise from the champ.
  • "This one's more refined. We really worked hard last year, in really being clear and concise in picking out what the issues were with the '19 car and what we wanted to do moving forwards . . .

. . . And that just continues to come from the great communication that we have as drivers with the team, with the engineers, the understanding we have with the terminology we use, and the team really take that in, and then have implemented that into the car today.

. . . But we've only been to one track. It's still not easy to get the lap out of the car, but I think that's F1 in general. But it is the best car that we've had so far."

Might be a light that makes flow Wiz easier to see

Can't be flow viz I think, since the car hasn't run on track yet.

Maybe a symbolic way of Lauda's spirit watching over the car as he's been part of the team's current success era.

Or to help with leak finding in hydraulics around the gearbox area?

Or a heat lamp to dry/cure something.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Or, when they uncover the engine area, make it harder for the sneaky photographers to take any meaningful pictures.
