Yes I know and 30 people have died in SA during that period and theyre trying to figure out if its heat related - in some cases probably yes - up here its been a balmy 37-39c we had our 40+ the other week I was lucky living in Adelaide I had a home on the waterway at Westlakes so never got too hot. So the infrastructure for Clipsal going up yet ??

Oh shut up, please (just joking). Since I came to New York, with the exception of three days, all have been below freezing. And it gets better when you hear people talking about temperature in the twenties. So if I hear any of you complain about 30º, I'll book the next flight to Australia and show you what "heat" meant for the spanish inquisition!!!!

I'd love to go to Monaco, but it would probably drain my wallet completely with the airfare, finding a place to STAY, and the insane cost of a ticket, plus I'd like a pit pass.

And of course I'd go to one more local to me in the US, but we know how that works...

Where'd you get 20's from? Here in Adelaide we just finished a run of 40-46 degrees Centigrade for 7 straight days - Today is forecast to be only 39 degrees Centigrade and at 7:40am it is already 31C. Our A/C has been on non-stop now for nearly 2 weeks.

Btw, for those you dont understand metric, 40C = 104F and our max temp was 46C or 114F.

We're in the depths of winter here in Houston. Temps might plunge to the bone-numbing 40s (F) tonight.

BTW: My issue with 20 degrees is that, being european, for me 20 degrees is a beautiful temperature to walk outside. You may need a light sweater if it's on the low 20s, but it won't be too hot if it's on the high 20s. But when people here say "tomorrow's going to be in the mid twenties" it means 25F=(25-32)*5/9 C= -3.9ºC. So, I know it's going to be below freezing but the sentence reminds me of beautiful spring weather, to add insult to injury.

607,000 people here in Kentucky without power due to ice storms, below freezing every night for the past week and a half. I couldn't even watch the Australian Open, it pissed me off to see some place warm!

On topic, it seems like the benefits to the area surrounding a GP would be directly related to how dense the commerce is around there to begin with. On donskar's point relating it to American football, I'd bet a Texas Tech home game brings more commerce to Lubbock than a NY Jets game does to E. Rutherford because of the layout and location. And correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Spa and Magny-Cours in the middle of nowhere? I think any good look at the issue would have to compare the benefits to the Singapore-Montreal-Monaco-Valencia-Melbourne group to the more rural tracks.
