Just do mechanical engineering... you can learn any area you wish afterward. You don't have to limit yourself to an engine, and engine is just a single machine out of thousands.

Spoken like a true Mech E, everybody knows we are the most versatile engineers, but Donskar makes a good point in combining it with some business background.

I will suggest you to do Motorsports engineering.

-Oxford Brookes
and a few more

search for B.Sc/M.Sc Motorsports and study both.

If your looking out for aerodynamics which is my favorite as well, I will suggest you to go to the Southampton University for a specialized course called The Raecar aerodynamics which just has 8-12 seats.

I am personally looking into scheduling GRE testing at Penn State and try to clep a bachelors in Automotive Science. Since every team employs people with that degree, and my local branch of the University offers the GRE testing, it is a good fit for me.

I don't know if you can backdoor a Bachelors like that in the UK, but with my work experience, it works for me here.

And Don, did you like that referral to F1 as the Theatrical Class of racing?
