Brawn 'e-mail' hints Honda F1 saved
With little over six weeks to go now before the 2009 season-opening Australian Grand Prix, rumours are finally circulating that Honda F1 has been saved – and will be on the starting grid Down Under at the end of March.

Crash.net understands that Ross Brawn – team principal of the beleaguered Brackley-based outfit, put up for sale by the parent company in Japan back at the beginning of December – has circulated an e-mail to staff to the effect that a deal has been done to secure the squad's future, and that everybody should begin preparing for Melbourne.

It is also claimed that five sponsors have been found to adorn the side of the car, and though the identity of the engine-supplier is unknown, McLaren partner Mercedes-Benz is strongly believed to be the most likely candidate.

On the driving front, finally, it is understood that Jenson Button will remain, with the British ace expected to be joined by reigning GP2 Series runner-up Bruno Senna – who impressed when he tested for the team at Barcelona in Spain late last year – with backing from a portfolio of Brazilian sponsors.

What truth there is to the latest speculation is unclear, but with time fast advancing an announcement is expected to be imminent.

Honda staff were remaining tight-lipped when Crash.net contacted the team for a comment on Thursday.

At last I agree with you mx, all these new threads on the same subject is getting annoying, when interesting topics fall of the chart. Is there no way to police this Ciro?

I understand that you're new, and I welcome you!

How to go about it:

If you have news/comments about a certain topic which has been covered a lot as of late, it is highly probable that there is a thread for that discussion already. That being the case for Honda's current state, try the searching the forums, using key words, such as 'Honda withdrawal', etc. And please do so for other topics as well, since it is very probable that a thread about them already exists too.

Try giving some time to reading the first page or so in each message board (General, Aero, Engine, Automotive). Or if time doesn't permit going through each thread, just scan quickly to see if any topics apply to what you have in mind.

As Xpensive mentioned, having a lot of threads covering one single topic does get frustating.

Don't worry about it...

I'm sure one of our friendly neighbourhood mods will stick all this into the other thread shortly :)

ggoldberg81 - Just use the search box at the top right of the page to see if a topic has been introduced. Might be something similar already started. Or go to the forum and scan through the threads. It takes a bit of time to find your chair in a new pub and a few minutes to figure whether 'To order standing at the bar or is it table service?'

Good to have a new voice and in particular - Good to have you on the forum. Welcome ggoldberg81
