Red Bull RB16

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

They might have tested a 21-spec floor yesterday in FP1:

Max told on TV yesterday that they have tested the 2021 floor, which provides less downforce.

Why ominous?

Yes, I don't understand that either.

Why not use the same words as the guys in the Merc threads. They always like to declare victory up front. First team to do on track testing is in fact RBR.

McLaren ran the 2021 floor several races ago didn't they?

Yep this bit of the conversation is about as useful as a chocolate teapot. Everyone (Merc ferrari Mclaren rb Renault are testing 2021 items - and I’m sure other teams too) you’d expect them to

People are asking what you mean. Why don’t you just answer that?

I see nobody on the attack when this word was used in the Merc thread. Other then all stumbling over eachother in agreement. Now we have halve a page of reactions and that to me is illustrative.

Probably because you are comparing two completely different situations? Also I don't feel anybody was attacking you (more likely they felt you had some additional contextual information to share). I agree though that people crushing too hard over the winning team is irritating especially because Merc have been at the top so long.

Ominous was sarcasm. Since this is the internet, sarcasm failed. Back to the car now, please?

Based on his latest post, I don't think he was pitching it as a sarcastic comment... Either way, everyone from the front half of the midfield up have been inching closer to Mercedes with their latest upgrade packages, with Verstappen obviously leading the charge... I think Mercedes' approach to next year's technical challenge is distinctively different to other's.

A bit clearer, more hi-res shot of the '21 floor test:

Not correct, McLaren was the first to test the 21 floor, back in Spa.

Yes, so I have heared indeed, even in this topic. Missed that. Seems Ferrari also tested the 2021 floor here.

Ferrari tested 2021 floor and diffuser in Portimao. Seems like they’re the first team to have tested diffuser as well.
