Car seems quite neutral and nicely balanced on hard tyre. Almost zero steering wheel corrections.

Very little wind to upset the car.

He comes close in the fast corners. Those were the words of Helmut himself. i would not call that "mach".
Yamamoto, Tanabe, and Asaki have said in telemetry data there are sections that Alex matches or is even faster than Max. In any case, I said "match Verstappen closely". BTW, recall Suzuka 2019 Q3 - Both Max and Alex's laptime was an identical 1:27.851. That is an exact match. I was there.
To corroborate what you are saying, I think Red Bull knows his raw pace is good but they are puzzled why he can't put it together consistently.

''Against Max everyone, except Lewis Hamilton, probably loses out in qualifying. In the race, however, we need someone who can constantly deliver the performance. Albon is a puzzle for us. He has the talent but lacks consistency and confidence. In some corners, he wins something on Max, but in a simple corner or with the wind he can lose a lot of time,"

Albon did better today

How did the long runs look? FIA isn't updating their website so I can't check.

The AT seems to be pretty close to RB this weekend. How were the long runs? Because last race Gasly was pretty close too with the softs

If Albon will be replaced next year, then he is out of F1??

Thats what I am concluding as well, and that they may be give the second RB driver (Hulk/Perez)a one or two year contract if they are planning to promote one of the AT drivers.

Would be a pity for Albon. He is likeable, but underwhelming this season.

Some of the people who took liberties with track limits may have paid the price with car damage.

If RB is set to bring an "outsider", I'd like Hulkenberg. I think he will adapt good to the environment. Perez may be a little problematic some times IMHO

Would that not be madness? Albon is just too slow, unfortunately. :(

Assuming Hulkenberg at Red Bull, it is curious that Marko prefers to put Tsunoda at AlphaTauri rather than bring in Perez as a second AlphaTauri driver likely to score consistent points. :?:

Does anyone have a feeling about Hulk or Perez being more or less comfortable with a very pointy car / front-end - that the red bull seems to be - as was given as reasons by both Gasly and Albon as reasons for the delta to Verstappen.

Gasly was almost a second quicker than any other team, so not much to read into that from the outside, unfortunately (apart from the fact that Alpha Tauri was on lower fuel)

Gasly is best in AT. The car suits him perfectly. A stable rear where he can put the foot down out of the corners. Actually a perfect car for Vettel.
