We might be able to get a pole, the track is short enough for the engine not to run out of battery

it is short to full it back as well. they will use same level of energy at every lap. short or not they will use same energy if they could recharge at same degree with longer ones.

Long runs looking good, but the car lacks straight line speed. They'll need to qualify on the front row. Entirely possible, looks like Max's best victory chance.

A question please.

When a car is unable to quickly pass lapped cars and must pick a spot, does this aid or hinder energy recovery?
Is the 'extra time' good or bad. Save or waste?
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

It seems the Renaults are running a very low DF setup. Max told on the radio he was unable to pass Ocon. They need to be on the first two rows, or it will end like in Monza...

Ocon had nearly 20 kmh advantage over verstappen on the main straight on their best laps. I don't know what settings rb were running but that's extreme. No wonder verstappen couldn't do anything.

Honestly I don't think that RB will be fighting in pole, unless Honda can push it more to the limit, which I doubt. The mercs were probably running tuned down in FP1 and FP2, but less see how things develop. Race pace wise Verstappen was superb, so for the race I have high hopes, but not for qualy.

Honda isn't turned up either. What was the gap to Hamilton on the full layout .4 and .1 to Bottas?

Argh. 0,052 to pole. Such a shame. Hopefully the progress is real and when Merc does indeed loose DAS next year (Toto seemed not so sure) it might finally be on?

Too close, and too far at the same time... And I think Albon is out definetely... Hope it's Hulkenberg next year

Do you think they could have aborted the Q2 softs lap? It seemed weird to complete.

Max was out with the previous lap with mediums

2 stopper guaranteed. The softs will die in about 20 laps, mediums in 30. The hards may be too slow, but could last half race distance. Starting on softs means one extra stop.

Max stated at Ziggo interview after qualy that Bottas didnt have a clean/superb lap so that makes the gap seem closer. Max also thought that long run lap times of RB weren't comparable because the mercs were runned with low engine modes.

With his experience and fighting spirit I expect him to catch at least one merc, may be both. But starting on soft is probably a disadvantage strategy wise.

Maybe. Or cause an upset at the start with a better launch. Moving past RUS who probably won’t do an electric launch you would think. See what BOT race craft is like. He never seems very fast on high fuel race trim
