What is different is that it is an arrive & drive series which is much cheaper than GP2 or WSR.

Wasn't that the case for Formula Palmer too? And if this were to support Formula 1 like GP2, the cost will go up for the drivers anyway. From a driver standpoint I guess you will get a lot more exposure, which is good I guess...

FIA backing is the difference. F2 could be made a pre-req to an F1 superlicense.

That's why it's cheap and all about talant.

F2 racer designed by Williams F1
Engine by Audi
Winner gets a run in a Williams F1.

So, it is a travelling circus ride that the drivers follow along in their RV's?

How is this supposed to get "personell" into F1 if there aren't even teams that get to set up the car? Manage the details?

Maybe they just wanted more drivers for the already overcrowded F1 paddock to dilute the drivers salaries in F1, and completely forgot about the team personell when the cost cutting measures were introduced? Or does that mean that ONLY the people that work at MotorSport Vision have any chance at using F2 to get to F1?

Sounds rather fascist to be honest.

I have to wonder how closely this FIA proclaimed feeder series is synergized to what F1 will be in the near future. If some of these questions return a certain answer, it may just end up as ANOTHER theatrical formula for the drama loving masses.

Only time will tell, I guess...

There are enough aspiring tea owners in GP2 and sports cars. F2 was set up to provide drivers with an affordable way into F1 which it obviously will do. Many people said it cannot be done below GP2 prices but they have been shown wrong. It should be a very valuable series and hopefully the cost cutting will lead to a full F1 grid again in 2010.
Formula One's fundamental ethos is about success coming to those with the most ingenious engineering and best .............................. organization, not to those with the biggest budget. (Dave Richards)
