I'd guess it's because a major sponsor has left for 2021 and they have had a pop at one of the teams 2021 drivers.

Problems for Haas: Car is ready, but Ferrari engine cannot be installed

Haas is on schedule to deliver their new car for 2021 on time, but there is one problem and that is the engine from Ferrari. It can go into the country, but without engineers to install it.

According to the German Auto, Motor und Sport, the parts of the new car are already ready and the assembling of the VF-21 starts at the beginning of February. Mid-February the car would then be ready for a test, with everything on it. There is however one problem and that is the engine. It is there, but the engineers are missing to install it.

To enter England now, you have to spend two weeks in quarantine. Team boss Günther Steiner is also stuck in America because of this. ''If I wanted to go to the factory now, I would have to spend two weeks in quarantine. There are only exceptions for athletes," says Steiner. Mick Schumacher will therefore be able to go to the factory soon.

However, this poses a problem for Haas as the engine from Ferrari can only be installed with the help of Ferrari's engineers. They may not be able to help until Bahrain when the winter test starts. A proper test prior to the winter test, therefore, seems unfeasible.

Ok, listen to me for a moment here, let's invent something unconventional. how about we TAKE that car. we TAKE that engine. and we PUT it aboard a PRIVATE AIRPLANE. we then FLY that airplane somewhere you don't have that problem. perhaps the USA itself! Hell, you could even put it aboard a SHIP and put it in INTERNATIONAL WATERS.
you have that crew WORK on the car with the equipment THERE instead of in the garage/factory.

is it more complicated? yes.
will you atleast have a car? yes.

I’m not sure what the big deal is, the quarantine period is only 10 days, if the will/need was there they would have left 10 days ago and be fitting the engine, or shipping the car over to Ferraris new customer unit, fitting the engine and shipping back again

The Ferrari PUs moods are not not drastic, it’s the more or less the same PU in the same car as last year and they can shake down when they arrive at testing

These things normally only happen a few days before anyway

So is Rich Energy going to be the title sponsor for Haas again? Their CEO William Storey is saying there will be a big announcement and that they are returning to F1. Hopefully they won't taint the image of F1 with any controversy.

So the only change over last year will be the engine? Not great news for the team and drivers.

It doesn’t say that they won’t be using any tokens... Simply that they wouldn’t be using them for a new nose.

But they could still be using them somewhere else in the car... And if there are using Ferrari parts, they most probably will be using them to mirror wherever Ferrari is using theirs (Gearbox).

If they fix the inconsistent rear suspension issues, the 2020 Ferrari powered cars might surprise some others in 2021. Even with minimal updates.
