Yup, big "IF", but if it is indeed true, who else could he be worried about enough to want that clause in his contract?
Maybe it’s not about “i want a veto”, but more of “we cant give you 50 million or 4 years, but we are willing to give you a veto in who joins as a token to show that we want to continue this journey together.” A veto could be played as a card for more money or shares too, i.e. if they really want to sign a particular driver but Hamilton has a veto and could use that as a bargaining chip.
The whole contract negotiations are surely about things both want, but cant have (like more money, shares or 4 years), so they are finding other clauses to compensate for demands not being met.
