This forum contains threads to discuss teams themselves. Anything not technical about the cars, including restructuring, performances etc belongs here.
I would be surprised, but only a little, as it would be a smart move that if possible allows us some token free development. That posed against Mclarens "Sovereignty" then I would take the gearbox and suspension for a year. But that assumes that the Mercedes rear suspension is better than our own. Which is probably a correct assumption, as I imagine a fair portion of their car is incrementally better than ours.
Since when are McLaren using a Mercedes gearbox & fitting their rear suspension?
I kind of hope they do... but isn’t this just complete rubbish???
I’ve seen multiple comments casting doubts on the reliability of Nugnes, a bit of fantasy in his reporting. Maybe it’s a bad translation and he’s suggesting McLaren will adopt the W11 style suspension, ie their version? By the way, are they allowed to have a new suspension or it’s part of the frozen components?
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

I can’t see how they could possibly justify such a major change in suspension geometry as ‘essential’ to fit new engine
I understand they have an updated gearbox (their own!) and maybe they have tweaked the suspension layout to benefit them, but to reposition fixing pints from the casing to the rear crash structure seems a step too far
The Piers Thynne behind-the-scenes video from a couple weeks ago clearly stated that McLaren are working on a new gearbox for this year and that the design/development was already complete. I hardly think he meant, "yeah, we got the delivery in from Mercedes". This report is nonsense.
James Key once said that a self-built gearbox gives you more freedom in chassis design. Therefore, I see no reason for McLaren to buy this unit from Mercedes.

On the sidepods as well I note! Guessing will be similar to last year with a larger number of sponsors there rather than one bigger one! Won’t be long until there’s no room left....
excellent content! probably Jenson's last for McLaren for the time being, though
True, I wish he was given a role with McLaren, something like the one he got with Williams. Jenson is a top guy, would be nice to have kept him in the McLaren family.
