I don’t think we are going to see anything radically different from the diffuser... There is not a lot of room for creativity in that area which is pretty constrained

Yeah, it's both an aggressive overcut and an aggressive undercut. I hope it works well for them.

My wonder is more how the diffuser has changed due to the floor cuts and the limitations in size on some areas that FIA has implemented, but yes I agree with you I don't expect anything radical

If they can sort out the mid corner understeer in low/medium speed corners then I’ll be a very happy man indeed! They clearly don’t want to show their hand fully yet. Excited

I believe the Racing Point concept is a very different concept and way to manage that “over cut” on the side pods... Yes, Mclaren also has one, but it’s a very different treatment of that area

The opening at the rear for extracting internal heat might sit lower than last year, hard to judge 1:1 with the delta in the angles of the photos

If I remember right RB also tested sidepod with concept very similar to RP. Also I agree that MCL has very different treatment than RP.

It's a render so they are not constrained by producing parts. What they are not showing, they are doing on purpose.

What is the most important takeaway from today is that James Key believes they clawed back the losses of aero due to regulations. Obviously he doesn't know what other teams did. If true, this sounds very good for the season. Regulations were intended to slow down the cars so if McLaren got it all back, they should be good (or regulations were too lax).

One other takeaway is his talk about diffusor. He said they did not understand aerodynamics of "new regulation" diffusor until they started working on it. Could this be a clue that they found something innovative in this area?

If they got the downforce back and now have a more powerful engine, it's time to start the party :D. Joking, but cautiously optimistic for the season.

This clip was the best part of the event for me. While watching, I realised that James Key has now designed cars that used all the 4 different PU’s in the turbo hybrid era.

It was a great clip. Key seems proud of his work :).

Just realized. Key was saying that they didn't understand the aerodynamics of the rear of the car due to changes in packaging of Mercedes engine (which is slimmer). This makes sense and means it's not a clue for something interesting in the back.
