Maybe it's just me. He could race next week with a broken jaw. Never mind 1.5 days of testing 1 month from now, then another 2 weeks before a race.

If that's the biggest concern, it isn't one.
You sound like someone who has never had a broken jaw!
Seen plenty of hockey and football players play with their mouths wired shut and full masks.
How many G do they sustain in the corners on a football field?
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

G’s won’t hurt nearly as much as head impacts as they get in hockey. That’s what hurts, and why they wear mouth guards and F1 drivers don’t.

Speaking from experience there are you?

Depending on where the fracture is, the weight of his helmet is sustained G corners could be excruciating.

G force will indeed hurt like mad on a bone injury like that for sure, but can also be smashed open again on a football, hockey, rugby pitch. We do see footballers (proper football) playing with facial injuries wearing masks ect, so I dont see a driver being kept out the cockpit long with a jaw injury. I dont see Fernando missing anything provided there are no complications.

No, the one where they made helmet to helmet contact illegal cause it was leaving too many players scarred for life.

Fairly sure headbutting is illegal in Rugby too.

Fernando Alonso has been discharged from hospital =D>

GT:
Fernando Alonso is already resting at home after having received the medical discharge. The two-time F1 world champion underwent surgery at the Bern hospital (Switzerland) after being run over by a car in Lugano.

The Asturian had to undergo a maxillofacial surgery in which the specialists repositioned the upper jaw, fractured after the tremendous blow he suffered when he was riding a bicycle.

In the image captured by Cuatro, it is seen that the two-time world champion came out on his own feet. The mask covered his face and the aftermath of his intervention.

I always make sure to mention that Australian Rules Football was codified 5-10 years before British Association Football (they are both derivatives of the same ancestors of course), and indeed Australian Rules Football contains tackling largely without helmets (albeit mouth guards are worn). :)
