Red Bull RB16B

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Hm...I don't know, either something went really wrong today with the RB16B or they just don't want to show something.

It's quite strange to have not a single footage of todays shakedown.

AT were spotted with the new car so guess the engine is good,

on the redbull instagram stories max said he drove the old car and perez said he drove the 16b
so not sure what to make of it

Especially strange since we did get “spy” shots of them running the RB15. Let’s hope Honda didn’t make a huge mistake by rushing this new engine.

One small question.. I don't know if anybody has spotted it yet, but I can't see the wastegate exhausts in the new exhaust arrangement. Any ideas? Apologies if this has already been answered.

Pretty sure this is actually RB15 with 2021 livery. Advance to 0:35 in the video, and you see the wastegates at the location where it was for RB15. It probably isn't the RB16b in the launch video. The 2021 regulations no longer require a wastegate as well so it will be interesting if some PU manufacturers actually have gone this route...

Perez didn't race with Mercedes 2020 rear suspension. Aston Martin will get it.
Racing Point got the 2020 W11 rear suspension with their mid-season update so Perez has driven with the W11 suspension on his RP20.
No, they didn't. That was just a rumor. Find the pictures and you will see.

I completely agree! In particular, in the second picture, there should be a small horizontal wing just below the air scoop, but there's no trace of it. They might have had some problems, I hope they're not related to the engine (even though it is regularly running on the AT02, so it's unlikely that just Red Bull is having problems).

Red Bull have to be hiding something about the RB16B. There’s literally no footage online of the 2021 car out on track. Instead they used the RB15 with the new livery to release media footage.

I find this very odd and suspicious, especially as the AT02 with the same PU completed its shakedown successfully.

I also think that they are hiding their hand. They've changed their approach. Even Marko says Merc is favorite instead of saying we prepared well this time.
I've read that they will run 21 car afternoon but I don't know if they did or not.

Not a single frame with the RB16B in it. Are they hiding something or just creating hype?

Somewhat curious that Alfa did it's best to have the cape as far forward as possible while RBR is pushing it backwards.

Or are they? The alpha tauri render nose was also quite different than the actual car. As long as the crash structure is not altered I think you can make alterations to the nosecone token free. Or am I mistaken?

Seems like RBR will have the biggest world title chances this season since the beginning of the hybrid era. You can just sense that somehow. Honda pushed like crazy and RBR pushed even more to get on top of this car.
They simply don’t want to show their hand in on some filming day. They might have found some silver bullet. The regulation changes have been quite significant after all.

I'm sorry, it wasn't clear enough, Alfa Romeo not Alpha Tauri.
