Reportedly, Williams will also become Alpine's junior team, another big advantage. For the French racing team this is of great importance as it currently has no places in Formula 1 where it can release talents (such as Christian Lundgaard and Guanyu Zhou) from their own academy. Competitors like Red Bull, Mercedes and Ferrari do have these possibilities.
Earlier on it was still Williams' plan to intensify the cooperation with Mercedes. After next season not only the engine but also the gearboxes and other parts would be bought from the German world champion. That deal seems to have been put on hold thanks to the intervention of Alpine.
This is the same site that proudly annnounced a Rich Energy deal with McLaren before the 35M was even unveiled. Yeah, huge pinch of salt for this story.

that looks pretty amazing to me!JordanMugen wrote: ↑24 Feb 2021, 22:57I'm expecting the livery to be like this and be in the flat Gordini blue colour, but I'll be impressed if it's the metallic Alpine blue and looks like the LMP2 car instead.

Hope they get rid of the black sides too.Blackout wrote: ↑25 Feb 2021, 14:51I hope it will be on the light and flat side tooJordanMugen wrote: ↑24 Feb 2021, 22:57I'm expecting the livery to be like this and be in the flat Gordini blue colour
-we've seen plenty of dark/medium blue cars in f1
-The RB teams are dark blue
-light blue and such are more rare in modern F1 AFAIR
-the last light blue car was an Enstone car AFAIR
This should be a good compromise

I never really understood the black, personally bad luck on a race car. But used to make certain areas of the car harder to photograph. Fine in testing if you wanna go all black. Somebody once saud that sponsors love black too.diffuser wrote: ↑25 Feb 2021, 18:39Hope they get rid of the black sides too.Blackout wrote: ↑25 Feb 2021, 14:51I hope it will be on the light and flat side tooJordanMugen wrote: ↑24 Feb 2021, 22:57I'm expecting the livery to be like this and be in the flat Gordini blue colour

Not every race car runs without fans, F1 is so extreme that the cars only sit still for 2.5 seconds in the pits and 30-45 seconds at the race start. Loads of other race/rally cars run a fan because in reality a lot of other formula cars run in more varied conditions. Some junior formula cars are fitted with fans because owners dont have fully prepped teams of engineers to monitor engine temp.JordanMugen wrote: ↑25 Feb 2021, 21:45Looks nice!Blackout wrote: ↑25 Feb 2021, 14:51This should be a good compromise

Why are there cooling fans on a racing car!?

Edit -- Or have they been retrofitted to avoid the inconvenience of needing to bring leaf blowers to historic demonstration events?
