The "airbox" now looks twice as large! it was already large since 2018 because of its peculiar cooling layout, but did they move the CCS backwards or made it wider?

The rear wishbones appear unchanged for now.

Relatively big changes on the sidepod size and shapes too

I did notice that the airbox is wide but short (front to back). Mclaren, for example, is much narrower but almost double the length front to back. I wonder why they did that...

Wow i agree Ligier flashback from 50 yrs back. That is one chunky boi. Almost they eliminate all rads in sidepods. LOL Are we sure they have rads in there. Maybe is flow trough design :d On serios note on first eye i almost think they pull another double floor experiment. Still pretty fluid design on floor and sidepods. I THINK this should be low drag monster. Even with that RAM air airbox. At least sidepods should produce little lift.

Are they planning to stuff a mechanic in there or something?

As far as I remember they didn’t have any heat issues last year?

Gezuhs, that airbox

But dat car tho, it looks absolutely stunning! too bad we don't have a yellow car for 2021, but this is one hell of a good looking car!

Almost like they brought back the giant 2018 air-box!

I am wondering if Jolyon Palmer is hiding inside it!

Any clue as to what they used their tokens on?
Tokens spent on the rear end.

Hmm...would not be surprised if they adapted a W11-style suspension to the car.

It never left, it was there in 2019 and 2020 too. But now it's twice as big.

Crazy speculation: they ditched the sidepod double air-air intecoolers (hence the tighter sidepods?) and replaced them with a water air interccoler, placed just behind the drivers head, where the old centerline cooling system used to sit. And they put the new CCS more backwards in an upright position, like the other teams.  :p
And the roll hoop hump became wider because the ducts inside it need to pass around the new water-air intercooler + the turbo duct : P

A bit like this:
-Pink = Renault CCS
-turquoise = air-air intercooler
-checkered= water air interccoler
etcetera

I like the shade of blue, but the red, white, and black sides destroy the look. Too broken up.

If this car was painted that blue color all over but with black wings, it would look great.

Interesting slotted cape

The cape isnt slotted, thats an optical illusion.

The outer edge of the cape is lower than the 'mainplane' of the cape, it falls off a bit. the white lights above make that transition look like a slot. In addition, there are vertical strakes on the cape as well, they look almost like hooks, they are just flow conditioners, the combination of these plus the angle make it look like a slot.

Definitely looks like a slot to me. You can see where the joining pieces are to strengthen the slot as well

Yes, it's more pronounced than the last wto cars. It tends to confirm that the upper wishbones have been raised...

Anyway, they completely ignored sidepod slope and went for the undercut, ballsy at least.
Very fat top of the engine as well, i wonder what they changed.
Good spot! =D>

The design of the car certainly goes against the rest of the grid. Do Alpine know something the others don't? :D

More importantly, they did shrink the sidepods alot.
They did. The shape of their undercut is very unusual: a kind of smooth curve.

Not going out a little square, and then having a late "kick" inwards typical of Red Bull-style or Racing Point-style designs.
