Official FOM Data from testing puts Alpine 5 fastest on both long runs and short runs, whit a very small gap to AM and Mclaren.
That’s probably fair, AT we’re opening their DRS everywhere, suggesting either a draggy car, or not as much grunt as the other engines.. I still think there will be tracks where the car will struggle, but equally some races where it could be row2 row3.. that’s if we actually do an old school quali and not a sprint race..

They qualified ahead of McLaren and split the 2 RPs last year...Naturally behind the 2 Mercs and RBRs. So they're behind where they were last year based on that table...That being said there was .3 of a second between 4th and 10th in Quali last year in Bahrain.

We'll see what parts gets introduce and if it changes things by next weekend...

As for Fernando Alonso and Alpine, Lobato was clear. "Alonso is like a bull despite the accident, the years and whatever they want to say ... The Alpine has absolute reliability. I inquired a bit with Fernando and he told me that well, that the job was complete, but that" we are a little lenses ". Entering Q3 is going to be very expensive"

Lenses and expensive? Maybe someone who knows Spanish can translate that better? I guessing "Lenses" would be problems and "expensive" would be difficult

Seems to have gone to (the possibly slightly lighter?) shade of matte blue to match the Grand Prix cars, as well as swapping the Alpine orange accents for red. Nice integrated look. :)

The F1 team with signage from Castrol, whereas the LMP and road cars still with Elf!? :o

One presumes they are wearing exactly the same colour, but it is a little hard to tell. :?:

The LMP cars numbers are much more attractive in the neat red box (ACO rule or otherwise, one for the F1 design team to consider). =D>

It would be very odd if they use a different color on each category. Probably that´s just a lighting/white balance diference

Dunno. Anyways the f1 team paint changes a lot, depending on lightning conditions etc
Sometimes it looks clear, sometimes dark, sometimes it looks deep and metallic, sometimes more flat and matte...

Also:

To be like a bull in spanish is to be totally fit, in good form, and to be healthy. Sort of all this at the same time.

To be expensive: hard to get or achieve.

For the curiosity:
Lento = Slow
Lentillo = sort of diminutive of slow.
Lentilla = contact lens or diminutive of lens.

Lobato doesn´t deserve wasting one minute reading his comments, he´s a radical fanboy, to the point even spanish supporters of Alonso like myself are sick of his fanboyism, and complete lack of objectivity and profesionalism #-o

In testing teams can do anything they want with fuel loads, drs, and engine modes. But by Q2-3 teams will be fixed on engine mode- so no extra power modes, consistent fuel and drs detection points. I don’t think RB are that much quicker, I think Perez’s pace is a true representation.. we know that the Renault race mode is solid. Fingers crossed

Putting the words like specialized or expert and Lobato in the same sentence gives me a headache.... #-o

In any case, I guess Alpine will have to fight hard to enter in Q3. I take for granted that Mercedes, RB and Mclaren will be there. AM has a great potential and Ferrari should be there. I guess Alonso can do it, but it won´t be easy at all.
