It's important to note that it is not the actual engine head cover of the RA621H. It is in fact a prototype and sample head cover meant for the purposes of showing the difference in size. 1. The elements that limited Honda were cylinders and the lack of resistance to the forces acting on them - temperature and friction.
2. The experience of Honda Motor engineers was used, who developed their own technology of strengthening the cylinder surface by creating or applying an appropriate coating. For the new power unit, they developed a recipe that made the cylinders five to ten times more resistant than that used in Honda motorcycles.
According to the information provided in the video, they checked the strength of the new cylinder shell in Abu Dhabi 2020, allowing the use of full power. The test was passed, so it was possible to think about solutions to improve performance.
3. Honda has been analyzing the old unit for months and has been looking for areas to improve performance. Japanese specialists quickly concluded that a complete reconstruction was necessary. Having, at least theoretically, certain that the new coating would protect the cylinder from excessive wear, they reached for a new shape of the combustion chamber allowing for a greater degree of compression. This has been achieved by reducing the angle at which the valves are positioned. This operation resulted in the camshafts getting closer to each other. This, in turn, allowed for a more compact design.
4. The increase in unit efficiency, however, had a side effect - the amount of "lost" energy that went to the exhaust system and then powered the turbine decreased. Here again the HondaJet specialists came to the rescue. A redesign of the blade shape allowed the MGU-H system to perform efficiently despite the lower exhaust energy.
5. More attention in this video has been given to Toro Rosso/AlphaTauri than to Red Bull.

7. Lowering the center of mass and the size of the unit allowed Alpha Tauri and Red Bull (especially them) to gain further advantages on the aerodynamic side.
Yeah the Y-Z mounting positions are fixed. So have they offset the height of the 2 cams as well?

On reflection I think the numbers are snapshots of lap number 2. So possibly the SOC at the end of the lap. The bar graph may well be real time data. It doesn’t look like they are using much SOC so I doubt this is a performance lap.subcritical71 wrote: ↑05 Apr 2021, 14:00What do you make of the SOC bar graph? I thought about SOC of battery vs SOC range allowed by the rules but then the highlighted part of the chart wouldn't go to 0 unless its a limitation of their software.
