Alpine A521

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I wonder if the roll hoop was homogenized, therefore, this was the only option to make a change.

I can see where in the 2020 version of this has little space behind the lower hoop air intake rad and the upper hoop tube. I can see that could cause air flow problems on the lower hoop intake. The lower hoop exhaust would also heat the upper hoop tube. The 2021 solution gives us better flow on the lower air intake and a cooler upper intake without changing any of the 2 entries. Maybe, that is all they were trying to do?

And here was this article last year https://www.gpblog.com/en/news/61101/br ... tely-.html

"There is already a team that has reported a cooling problem with their car to us. They can't drive it like that for the next two years.

I beleive that was Renault.... both cars overheated in 2020 Hungry?
So they would have needed tokens to change the Roll hoop air intake. They then decided to make the suspension change with the tokens and went with the new air intake change that didn't need tokens?

That's my Guess anyways.

Thinking critically that layout Scarbs propsed is a bit pointless. Why would the designers go through all that trouble of looping one duct through the other and he could have done them the regular way and save more space?

I think there is another cooler that Scarbs has missed. I suggest that there is one near the roll hoop that is hidden... There are some small hoses on the right side of the car seeming to go up in that direction.

Teeth!!! Even if the car doesnt win any races, Alpine have designed the world’s fastest cheese grater.. just throw a block of cheese at the bargeboard in the wind tunnel and you could spread the cheese onto a pizza.. genius!!

Wonder why they just don't feed the interline cooler from all/part of the top hole and therefore do away with the whole width thing.

Wouldn't have been simpler to run the top duct to the radiators and lower duct to the turbocharger? Rather than all the crisscrossing of ducts?

And why couldn't they just do like MCL (who had the same PU in 2019 and 2020), or RBR, AT and Alfa and feed the CCS wit the the upper intake, and feed the engine with the lower one?
Same question.

The previous Renault cars had similar hoses and they weren't connected to rads but to air ducts... so maybe those hoses were for air-cooling... for electronic components for example...

As you can see, the previous letter-box slit has been replaced with two vertical slits (green) and each one is now divided in two ducts... so a similar design as the previous RS cars since 2018... but even more complex :P

Now it looks like Rhodes Reiss titan's face, if you watch "Attack on Titan"

The hose you are referring to, platinum, seems to be connected to one of those green ducts, similar to Rs.20, 19 etc.

2021 Emilia Romagna GP - PU status - Alonso gets new exhaust system

I wonder is this related to the damage sustained in Bahrain?

The exhaust had a overheating problem they couldn’t fix and so very early in the race they had to turn down Alonso’s car which was the reason he was dropping back and then the brake issue with the wrapper meant he’s brakes also started overheating. Basically the worst luck you could get that would have undoubtedly had him finish in the top ten without those problems.

Another change on the new Alpine's front wing. The cape's foot has a slot and a different radius.
