My thoughts during the race confirmed. It was strange how he was dropping time and then was fast again against ocon. Might have been resolved the problem towards the end as he hold Perez with much better car for 15 laps at least. But these efforts are not seen by his critics.

Getting pretty tired of this discussion. He'll either get better or he will not. Nothing anyone says today changes how much he improves. Only what he does.

I just not sure what the point is in saying he's over the hill, today. We all know he is gonna race in 44 more races over the next 2 years. We'll have a pretty good idea by then.
Very well said!

Two years out of F1, just second GP (one wich requires full confidence in the car) and a deployment problem. All that on a car wich is far from top 4 teams and he finish 10th while saying he´s been far from his full potential...

I know, Alonso is awesome, but 10th with all things considered is quite good. With Ocon in front of him it´s difficult to say Alonso did it well, but Ocon didn´t have a deployment problem, knows the car much better and knows the track with these cars from past year while Alonso experience is from more than a decade ago with completely different cars. It would have been embarrasing for Ocon if Alonso beat him in these circumstances :P

Next one will be better, can´t come soon enogh

when you look at this years testing, it was only day and a half, in dry bahrain. that is too little. years ago each driver would make a lot race distances during testing.

It’s all about the new regs for Alpine. A brand new Renault PU when that will be frozen is absolutely key to them, as are their adaptations to the new design regs.

This year for me is Alonso getting back up to speed and then next year will be a better opportunity.

Budkowski had said, prior to Imola, that there would be upgrades in both Italy and portugal. Then not in Spain, because it is a back to back with portugal.

I think they're loosing alot of time on a lack of DF at the rear.

The video didn´t work but doing a search for the title I found it. Extremelly conservative first lap, most conservative I´ve ever seen from Alonso, but he needs mileage and experience with the car, and I think he didn´t even drove that car in the wet before so being cautious was a must

You have to open f1 clips in either youtube app or on website. You can't watch embedded videos.

Alonso was very lucky not to end up the race already in T2 with that front right wheel shunt into AR.
