There’s a couple of ways of looking at this (typical) sh*t from the Daily Mail, especially in the context of Christian Horner being asked his option:

1) it’s an attempt by Red Bull to destabilise Mercedes in the title fight by “removing” their number 2 driver mentally from the fight via a friendly journo with an “anonymous” source.
2) It’s a (poor) attempt by Mercedes to rev Bottas up and get him fighting again.

Having watched this sport for a while and not trusting a word from Horners mouth I’d be looking at number 1) as most likely.

I'd go with neither; it's just the Daily Mail trying to generate controversy (cash) out of nothing.

What odds on him breaking it? It would be awful for him (and the team, of course), if he bent the car when it's supposed to be a celebration. Fingers crossed for a smooth day. [-o<

Hahaha the tires will likely be demo tires so he'll be nowhere near that even if he pushes.

Still a nice gesture from Merc though. I doubt he paid for that drive, so it'll still cost a fair amount to have that car running around the circuit.

I love that he's going to get some laps on the race day of the French GP as well, which is going to be fantastic for him to say goodbye in front of the French fans.

During his race analysis on F1TV, Jolyon Palmer guesses that Mercedes might not be happy with the way Bottas defended 2nd position from Max. The camera shots may proved that VB is not a feisty fellow. Is driver change inevitable?!

Interesting that he admits they just didn't think about all the consequences of pitting Bottas when they did for that fastest lap attempt, which then allowed Verstappen to do the same at the end of the race. Shouldn't think they'll fall for that one again, then.

I'm betting that will be something that they add into the pitwall application that they use to make decisions during the race, and used to be a prominent feature of the debrief videos.

It was a pretty shambolic defense to be honest. BOT literally raced HAM harder than he raced VER, cold tyres or not. All BOT had to is cover off the inside into T5.

On another note, 5 more engineers have left Merc for RB.
