I find most Japanese sportsmen take several years to sound even a little fluent in English. Even the legendary Takuma Sato is not that fluent even after more than twenty years in the west. Kobayashi was actually very decent. Nakajima wasn't bad either. The Honda managers like Arai, Tanabe seem to find it a trying task too, they speak very slowly in English to make sure they say the right things.
I wonder if it's a social class, or upbringing thing. I've known a decent number of people from japan, and some of them speak nearly perfect fluent english, and others have been horrendous.
You gotta want it. Some Japanese learn English as a personal pride thing. If you want it, and think it would be helpful you will learn. I don't speak Japanese, then again English is not my first language, and I can appreciate it in the sense that it is a bit more descriptive than my native tongue.

What's the chance of rain today? Would love to see rain. Can't think of the last wet Spanish GP

Just cloudy, race on.
Honest prediction on this one. Who has the car advantage? Who has the driver advantage?
Don't start it yet! Especially the last part!
Let's avoid the driver comparisons. It's actually against forum rules because the "other side" tend to get heated and burst their blood vessels over it. You should see one year I had to ship a couple cases of aspirin and blood pressure pills to a few posters! True story. So, for the sake of their well being, do avoid the direct driver comparisons or putting down of other drivers not carrying numbers 44 or 77.
This has made me chuckle way harder than it should. Fine then, the car painted in a darker shade of white, with double numbers. How about that for an incognito description.

In real terms, if Mercedes ruins this opportunity to go 3-1 in head to head, they all need a pay-cut.

As Lewis just pointed out, P2 side looks like a drag strip with all the rubber. What was the track hosting that put that much rubber down there?

Just watched Lewis double checking the security of the removable head rests.....guess he definitely learns from previous failures and makes sure they don't happen again.......it's the little things that make a champion

Looks like someone was laying rubber down. Like a demonstration car of some sorts

Max has been cheating his car past the yellow line at the start for a bunch of races now. Anthony davidson called him out on it. Mercedes need to get on the phone to Massi. It is deliberate "cheating"

As Martin said, Lewis could have slammed the door on the straight. Not sure if he thought he had the dig or what, but left the door wide open to Max.

Lewis probably letting the tires / race come to him.

Edit: yep. He’s looking fast now.

Poor Bottas - he got shafted by the fight between the front two in T1 / T2 allowing Leclerc the run at him. He ought to be getting by Lecelrc though.

Yuki, stay in the car and belted in until the wrecker gets to you!

I wonder what is going on with Yuki’s car though.

If the tire is flat before you use it, does that count against your allotment? I’m assuming Pirelli mounts them like most spec tire series.

Terrific clean start and first corner from the front two. Pity to see a safety car. End of a torrid weekend for Tsunoda.

Twice now Verstappen has punked Hamilton at the start....

...he’s still the champ, but surely Hamilton can’t feel good about that...
