You are all wrong. It's all to do with Hakkinen finally ending his sabatical!
Or he could just be officially announcing his retirement
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

I think it might be an IPO
it could bring significant investment into the F1 operation and would be positive for the whole group

On the other hand they probably wouldn't be briefing F1 media the first, + it's not very exciting is it ?
I dunno it's very intriguing
Most likely is this, recently they have been strong rumors about this in many known economic forums so my bet is an IPO

Would a LeMans entry be very, very exciting news, for Jon Noble, F1 editor for Motorsport.com? Personally. I’d be expecting something with more direct relevance to F1 first, then the larger McLaren Group. So, I’m thinking takeover or buy in by a Manufacturer, with implications for 2025.
Is that the same motorsport.com that is in part run by Zak Brown???
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

I for one hope it's not anything that impacts the Merc PU deal the team needs some stability on the PU front and the Merc is clearly still the class leader overall.

What do the rules about engines past 2025 dictate? Are the "simpler" engines (witout the MGU - K i think) being implemented?

If so maybe the McLaren group has bought Ricardo maybe and will start producing road car and F1 hybrid powertrains

Anyone😊

He resigned from his role a couple of years back.

The 2025 engine formula is still being discussed. They do want to simplify the power units to an extent but I don't think the details have been finalized.

Methinks McLaren is buying a stake in Mercedes powertrain in Birxworth to a) ease financial burden on Mercedes/INEOS b) effectively have a say in powertrain development as a works team

Its an interesting prospect and one worth putting out there.

I think we are buying someone or someone big is buying into us.

Ownership of the Mercedes F1 team is evenly split between Daimler, Wolff, and Ineos, but Mercedes HPP is a separate company that is still a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler. So it's plausible that they could be buying a stake in HPP but it wouldn't be for the first reason you mention. But in this day and age I could definitely see Daimler wanting to divest some part of a company that exists solely to produce racing engines.

Media event for it, must be big
I wonder if its significant they appear to have held the event over at the old McLaren HQ building at Albert Drive, which more recently has housed McLaren GT / Customer Racing? On the other hand, perhaps it was just easier to COVID-secure it at that location.

It is definitely F1 related though - the tweets have included the #F1 hashtag and some tweets have confirmed that both drivers and Zak were in attendance
