Interesting read. Looks like Ferrari are in talks with Midland to supply engines in '06.

proton can't even make a road car engine yet, let alone F1 engine.Their current engine,CAMPRO was developed at Lotus.Unless they rebadge other engine,I don't see a chance seeing proton badge on f1,not in 5-6 yrs.But Petronas might be able to do it.

I like the idea of Sauber producing their own engine seeing as they already produce their own gearbox and it would mean that they don't have to rely on anyone for anything, but it depends on wheter they could get it competitive enough quickly.

They are car maker. But they did take over MV Agusta,so maybe the motorcycle engine technology came from there.

Petronas did develop the engine though. One of it is experimental, codenamed E01 if i'm not mistaken.I heard it was fitted to Proton cars for Sepang F1 official cars. They also have developed motorcycle engine, fitted to superbike named Petronas FP1.You can see it at http://www.fp-1.com/

Sauber BMW. :)

The reason being that as part of the memorandum the GPWC members offered teams such as Sauber affordable engines from 2006.

BMW have already said they have been in talks with Sauber.
