Unicorns are powered by rainbows and magic though, not powertrains of any description, hybrid or otherwise.
See, this is what idle speculation based on little to no information leads to.
"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
Don't think Andy has the credentials to make such a statement.
Yeah, the Electric Powertrain tie ins proposal didn’t make me spit out my drink though...
I'm prepared to be disappointed. I think the people reporting on this announcement have different standards for what "seriously cool" means in this context, when most fans seem to expect something paradigm shifting. I also saw one of them say that McLaren encouraged them to hype up Sunday's announcement without giving it away, and there's always the chance they might feel like they won't be invited back if they don't do that.
Disregarding the finances, it also seems to me like Tesla should have no interests in Formula 1. It's an electric car company after all. Formula 1 has made no statements about going full-electric any time soon. An investment in McLaren is not inline with the goals of that company. Unless it's just a pure expansion into motorsports and they judged McLaren to be the best platform.
No way. it could reflect really badly on the McLaren brand and there is no way reputed journalists will do something like that. On the other hand, some of the most reputed journalists (Benson, Saward) haven't said anything so hmmmmm
Maybe they weren’t invited?
