OT question - what's the interesting looking bike in the background? Anyone know?
Lewis Hamilton's MV Augusta. He teamed up with them when they produced this bike.

Cool, thanks for the info. =D>

Wolff just said that Mercedes are fully working on 2022 and will have only tweaks this year, while concentrating on getting the max out of the tyres.

There's got to be some gamesmanship in that statement. (or as on Sky they are speculating the budget cap is a limiting factor....)

No offense, but Ted/Crofty sounds like an utter fool. I swear, these journos are getting to be so bad and out of touch. They try to force a narrative and when the facts don't support it, but act stupefied and incredulous.

If I had a $ for every time Ted/Crofty was wrong, I'd be buying Merc AMG F1 from Toto along AMR for good measure. I wish we could have more neutral, honest, journalists and media people. But I digress.

I don’t really see what’s so bad about it? They were just surprised at the answer he gave.

Are Merc just playing at the moment and have tonnes in hand for tomorrow, or have Ferrari emerged as a genuine pole threat for this specific circuit?

Benson is claiming Lewis has a faster lap in him, I'm not sure how accurate that is?

Hamilton could certainly have gone quicker - he lost 0.4secs on his fastest lap with a mistake at the harbour-front chicane. But even that would only have put him level with the Ferraris.

Hamilton said: "It feels really cool to be back on track. This track is absolutely mesmerising every time you get the opportunity to drive.

"The Ferraris look really strong, it's surprising to see them improve so much. But that's great - it means more competition.

"It is a track where you need to walk before you can run, but you have to do that quickly.

"The car is good, we made some decent steps with the balance of the car and I am just generally happy."

Verstappen said he was struggling with the Red Bull.

How would you have responded live on air to those comments if you were Crofty?

Yes, it cost him time by taking a bit too much kerb, but not nearly 4 tenths. I'd say 2 tenths at most, if that. Leclerc also had a pretty big oversteer moment in T16 costing him some time. It's very had to get a perfect lap around here and those little mistakes are part of the game.

The 4 tenths figures was mentioned on the BBC's radio coverage of FP2 by, I think, Jolyon Palmer. Certainly there was much made of Hamilton losing time and that was the figure they mentioned. I'd guess Benson has just grabbed that figure and run with it.

Looks like a change that you wouldn't want to make 35 minutes before the start of qualifying. (In terms of it's affects on the car balance and the unknown)

I don't see any of their suspension alignment/setup tools, so I'm wondering if they're just changing brake blanking.

It can't be that damaged, because he was still setting green mini sectors well after that.
