It's nothing new - other teams do similar and have done for some time. Indeed, this sort of detail was seen on the previous complex wings too.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

The benefits of the serrated edge are plenty. By making the wing work harder, they allow a steeper angle of attack before airflow separation occurs. At the same time, the span of the surface appears improved, reducing the tip vortex strength and reducing drag.

Furthermore, the small vortices that the sawtooth design creates help re-energise the airflow, making the main plane of the wing perform more consistently when the DRS is opened.

Yes, indeed, almost all the iterations we have seen have brought back solutions we saw in the past (and gone back om them) and reintroduced them slightly differently.

You're contradicting yourself. Generating vortices creates drag. Energy has to be taken out of the car to create the vortex.

It's a case of taking energy out locally but you can still gain in overall design efficiency if it makes things work more consistantly or lets you generate more downforce under the floor, etc.

evolving towards alfa romeo's front wing design which was introduced when they launched their car, some clever aerodynamics research in that swiss camp..maybe the flat lower surface from the inner section of the main wing and how it cuts into that curved surface...if there was an angle inwards, would certainly initiate an earlier vortex spiral

The new front wings main plane is substantially thicker by the looks of things ? at least towards the regulated middle section , near the endplates its hard to judge .

the newest iteration pic has a significantly lower pov so not easy to compare ...the lighting might be misleading , but it seems the leading edge has a bigger radius ...eyeballjudgement from a few pics can be very misleading ...as we interpret what we want to see ...
