The rules and agreements are clear, the teams and drivers asked for penalties for actions, not consequences (including RedBull and Verstappen). Any racer knows, that he is financially responsible for any damage on his car, no matter who caused it (apart from some rare cases of neglect on the part of the organisations).

All so cut clear, that “lawyer up” is a move to put some more oil on the fire.
Do you realize that because the punishment was so low, Hamilton can do whatever he wants from now on, because low punishments are handed out, because the consequences of an offence are not looked at!
Do you realize, that the only reason he got that low punishment was because he wasn't deemed solely at fault? If he had been deemed solely at fault he would have been charged with dangerous driving, and the penalty would be significantly more severe. If he had been deemed to have done it deliberate, it would have been a DSQ at a minimum.
Vettel was handed only a +5s penalty for dangerous driving on Canada. So irregular they are...

I don’t think that is the reason he got a ‘low’ penalty. Do you have a source for the statement you’re making?

"Max drove on his line, but Lewis should have gone off the gas. You can't hit your competitor on the rear wheel in one of the fastest corners. "

ironic then that Lewis was slowing down and technically Max drove the front of his rear wheel into the back of Lewis' front wheel because Max wasn't slowing at all....his lawyer is gonna love getting paid for nothing.

Yea, but in Baku 2017 he got a 10 seconds stop and go penalty, if memory serves that is the most severe that can be handed out before a DSQ.

It's literally right in the Stewards report that both drivers were at fault, but they put it mainly on Lewis being in a wedge, and since the other guy was on his way to hospital and had a wrecked car, not much point punishing them both.
Hence the rather low penalty for Hamilton, because he wasn't deemed solely at fault.

it's in the stewards report.

Car 44 is judged predominantly at fault.
The language is different when they think a driver is solely at fault and they hand out the penalty significantly faster.

A post couldn't have been any more berating than this. Posts like this makes Marko's reaction plan even more legitimate.

I’ve never seen any different language being used but I also have to admit not always reading these reports

Drivers and teams asked for this type of punishments, it doesn’t matter if you agree with it or not. What Marko is doing now (and they started that off with Verstappen’s insta post Sunday) to make Hamilton the villain of this fight and Verstappen the saint. It’s a very low blow and putting fuel on every fire outside the track. Remember, this is the guy who puts his foot down when there is double waved yellow on a pole lap, going for gaps that aren’t there on one of the fastest sections of Monaco ending in a crash, double moves on his teammate on the one of the fastest straights of the series. Criticised by all his peers for his risky moves but never ever has someone called him disrespectful or called a lawyer to get him banned. Do your talking on the track and remember what you agreed to.

Marko is being a Karen, a nasty one.
Cant agree more. Max and Hamilton came together with Hamilton predominantly at fault and got his penalty. Move on.

Why? Can you explain that a little bit?

Putting this in legal context someone falls in the road and can not be moved quickly, holding up an ambulance on a call and the patient dies. Is this a death penalty (or manslaughter) for the person who falls in the road?
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

After the high-speed crash between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton at Silverstone, Red Bull Racing has called in a lawyer to examine the situation. For motorsport boss Helmut Marko, the question of guilt is clear.

Max Verstappen's serious accident following contact with Lewis Hamilton in the high-speed "Copse" corner at Silverstone continues to heat up tempers. Now Red Bull Racing has handed the matter over to a lawyer. "He is to examine what could be done in such a situation within the framework of sports law," said motorsport boss Helmut Marko.

We are lucky that nothing serious happened to Max. The car is broken and the engine probably too. You can't let that get to you. A suspension would be justified," said Marko.

The Austrian is not at all pleased with the 10-second time penalty for Hamilton: "Ridiculous. But maybe it is also the regulations that you are limited. The rules should probably be revised, including the stewards system.

"They could have given Lewis a drive-through, plus a 10-second penalty, but they didn't."

"Max drove on his line, but Lewis should have gone off the gas. You can't hit your competitor on the rear wheel in one of the fastest corners. The smallest contact has fatal consequences. This was an irresponsible action and Hamilton needs to know what the consequences can be."
Just as a heads up, this source is considered one of the most unreliable and disreputable outlets in Europe.

It’s basically worse than tabloid journalism. And it’s pretty easy to tell that it’s likely made up, as if it were true, the lawyer’s name and firm would be listed.

The positive is, since it is likely made up, I can actually retain a modicum of respect for Marko.

His name is Vic Vaporware. He coulda been champion of the world. :)

On a more on-topic note, here is a real quote that Marko gave to RTL today. Which doesn’t square with the bizarre claims from the tabloid.

Marko also talked about how sprint races should be used at a limited number of events at certain circuits going forward.
