Esteban Ocon secured a surprise win at the Hungarian Grand Prix after the usual contenders eliminated one another in the first corner at the start. Sebastian Vettel finished second, Lewis Hamilton salvaged with third after ending up at the back early on.
And what exactly did Hamilton do wrong this time? He wanted to pit for slicks, but the team told him to stay out. He was dead last and then finished third. Effing ridiculous comment.
It was a joke. Btw team couldn't tell him to stay out during formation lap, drivers had to decide themselves whether they pit or not so it's Hamilton's mistake.
Tough call to make from the lead though. All the cars round him had nothing to lose. I’m sure if he was sitting 6-7th he’d have done it. But it has been pointed out more than a few times that there was a strong chance if he did go in, everyone would have passed him in the pit lane anyway, due to the position of his pit box. It was a bit of a lose/lose situation for him.
A critical extra 2 points for Hamilton in the title battle.
Gutted for Seb.
That's hard on the driver for something that is probably not in his control. A bit like the penalties for unsafe release.
The team should have been aware of the fuel level and asked for some fuel saving from Seb during the race. I guess they were hoping they would pass Ocon and coast to save fuel, but the pass never came.
Or just do what Russell did and stop jist after the pit exit. Didn't seb go all the way round nearly to the pit entry?

Apparently the teams can call their drivers in the pits during this warmup lap, just not the first. If he went into the pits, he would still be in the lead of everyone that pitted, as long as they took a bit of risk with slotting him in between a the first few cars. Just one of those little Mercedes mistakes they make (quite a lot). Luckily RedBull made the reverse mistake during the safety car, calling Verstappen in while there was a big chance of a red flag. They gave up a lot of track position which cost them a lot of points today.

He'd of been passed by all but maybe a couple of cars, hed of been sat in his box while every car came past, and hed have only past maybe 2 or 3 that were still in their boxes. Alonsos amazing defencive driving cost him the win as much as not boxing did.

A mistake is a choice with unwanted results. This choice could have given positive results and people still whining.

I wonder why the pit lane tracker doesn't show the other cars? Where is this 16 second gap you are suggesting Hamilton should've driven into? Weird that, before he even reaches Turn 1, the tracker suddenly shows that there's almost no gap to Bottas and then almost no gap to Ocon. It's almost as if the whole train was late and that Red Bull screwed up by not coming out before Mercedes (and, in doing so, putting Hamilton in Perez's spot). You know, exactly the point originally made by Hollus?
The entire Mercedes team have made plenty of mistakes (this weekend and previously). There's no need to make stuff up in order to find fault.
Vet - DQ! Fuel sampling infringement. Not due to the fuel being out of spec, but because the required 1 litre sample could not be produced...only 0.3 litre.
F1 classifications soon to be announced a week after the race (FE style).

Soooo… Redbull chose to bring their cars out as last of the cue and then, while everyone was holding equal distances to each other, Hamilton should give his place in the cue to Verstappen?
