Very interesting article. Especially the part where even a practise session is not really a chance to practise and adapt but preparation for the race.runningmanz wrote: ↑03 Aug 2021, 07:54Great article on Dan from Andreas Stella. Dan is there for the long haul. Everything else from the cheap seats calling for him to be replaced, is not good enough etc is just background noise. They know what he brings to the table over many years in different cars and what needs to be done going forward and no doubt are aiming for 2022 as the big year to start fighting for wins.

So it makes it extremely difficult to try and change your driving style.
Schumacher was always considered 1 of the best adaptors in history that could drive around any car issue.
But we saw what happened on his return the 1st year he struggled. The second year he improved and 3rd year improved further to get his 1st pole in Monaco. In previous eras Schumacher would have driven 1000s of laps and by race 1 fully adapted. It took schumacher til his 3rd year to get fully comfortable but by then age caught up with him and other issues like mistakes crept in.
It is very difficult to measure schumachers performance as he was getting older slowly losing performance and the fact he was rusty after 3 years away andRosberg getting stronger gaining more experience in his peak years.
But factoring this in schumacher outright 1 lap pace did improve in his 3rd year due to adapting to the car. Everybody needs time with the car and in previous eras it would take weeks due to unlimited testing. Now with limited testing it can take a year or 2.
