I think Daniel's performance was very strong and I think what it shows as just what level Lando is performing at right now.

I may be in the only boat here. But Lando admitted he is not driving different then he did at the end of last season with the exception of a few tweaks here and there. I think the gap just simply shows the car's design philosophy is completely out of sync with what Daniel has driven throughout his entire career. Hulkenberg (who was extremely highly rated in 2018-2019) comfortably handled Sainz in 2018 and Dan came in and was able to adapt some characteristics to his driving style and he overcame him with relative ease at the end of 2019. Sainz also with ridiculous reliability/luck still managed to overcome Lando last year. So i dont believe its Lando finding 1 second a lap over last year. I think its just a matter of him driving this car philosophy for over 3 years (including sim work) and knows the finer details on how to extract from the car, especially in braking zones.

I dont see Dan getting enough credit for his 2019 season where he was able to dismantle a well established driver who had been in the team for a while the same driver who outperformed Sainz. Much less his amazing 2020 season.

Daniel beat both is fundamentally a worse car in 2020. At the moment Dan is unable to deliver at the same level as lando in the current design philosiphy. I have full confidence in Mclaren giving him a car next year that adapts to at least some of his strengths the same way Renault did when they transitioned from the 2019 to 2020 car.

For God sake finish that Wind tunnel already.

Agreed, Lando is performing at a very high level ATM. Unfortunately this was a legitimate mistake on his part.

I’m going out on a limb and predicting Daniel getting P2 behind Max tomorrow.

Im hoping for P3. the Merc has far more pace than the Mclaren.

I also predict Russell will try to assist Hamilton someway at the start

If it's dry or if it dries anywhere before the mid point of the race, the Merc has more race pace. Hamilton will finish #1.

Right NOW looks like a dry start.

sure, Lando hasnt changed his driving style much from last year, but come on, he is consistently driving that car at its maximum. He hadnt put a foot wrong since yesterday. His level of consistency and maturity, as well probably his determination to race with the big boys has clearly taken a huge step forward this year IMO

I’m afraid the start is going to be chaotic… Perez is out of the race due to a crash on the reconnaissance lap…. Turn 1 will be crazy, it won’t be be surprising if they decide to have a Safety Car start.

Let’s hope for a great race, yesterday was a “what could have been” type of day… Today, we could be up for a nice comeback story for Lando

Unbelievably tough conditions out there- very hard to see much- hope all the drivers come back safe and sound and that we have a clean race.

Perez already out so the Ferraris have a chance to make ground and all being well, Lando can do the same

Fingers crossed everything goes well today and Lando has the same speed advantage compared to the opposition like yesterday. Let's have no more dramas.

If he can keep the car safe at the beginning I have a feeling that Lando will have a great race… I remember his race at Paul Ricard in F2 on the rain, he has a lot of speed on tough conditions
