For me, it's a scandal. The "race" of two laps was ran mainly to secure money. It was obvious that conditions hadn't improved and there was no chance that a race could be held safely.

The fans and sponsors can't legally claim a refund that the "race" was ran. All two safety car laps of it.

The safety car laps do not play any role in European legislation. A fake race is no race when it comes to court. Also for TV contracts it did not play any role according to Domenicali.

It's a shame also because that is points lost in ths two championships, through no fault of Mercedes.

Well....if you look at the videos of the Q laps....Rus was the only one of the top 3 being really good in La Source and Pouhon. Everywhere else he lost time compared to Ham. When it comes to one last lap in Q you need to bring it together...this is similar to Monaco, if you do not bring it in Q you can not make up much in the race.

It is all about wording. If the contract guarantees a 'race of X laps or more', they could be in trouble, but it probably says something like 'laps run'. Bernie and max have had their legal dept's working on this for a couple of decades, it is going to be like grabbing elastic S**t.

Why do you say that mercedes are favorite at Zanvoort? It is full of curves an not enogh long straights for the Mercedes engine. What Im afraid is that Mercedes because of the stopped development doesnt have a a moderat and balancedRW that trades low downforce and high downforce. They have either that barn door wing or a skinny wing. And it will rain un Sunday. They lose to much with the barn door wing and I wont think that they will risk again with the low downforce wing. Maybe C1 C2 C3 tyres will help a bit.

Mercedes strongest tracks according to Andrew Shovlin were Barcelona and Portugal. Similar-ish tracks. Hungary is also similar to some extent.

There is a good chance with current form that Russel is going to be Mercedes's No. 1 Driver for 2022. They will have a clear No. 1 & 2 after mid-season like they have this season.

On what basis? Please explain with some evidence and supporting arguments.

LH has been quite horrible so far. He got overtaken @ the start twice by Max Verstappen. He was terrible in Monaco with this set up debacle but he himself also messed up. He made a huge error in Baku after having overtaken Perez (which is a childish F2 Level error) & if you make that kind of stupid error while leading the race in the final moments, you should be admonished. Mercedes obviously treat him with kid gloves despite him being past it.

You can argue he took out Max in Silverstone by being completely off (for which he got penalized by the stewards as well who judged him guilty). He took way too much time to overtake Alonso in Hungary as well. Bahrain was his best moment but this was a mediocre season. It is just that Bottas has terrible. Not just Russel, Norris or Leclrec would have exposed him as well. He is where Vettel was in Ferrari & Russel will be his Leclerc !

Russel has had spectacular qualifying sessions time & again & deserved to win more points in the race but lost out many times over a longer distance because you can do your heroics only so far. He has Latifi time & again & has battled with Alpine/Alonso etc on occasions when he has a much slower car. Forget Hungary, Russel was very good in both Austrian GP as well. And he owned Bottas in Sakhir last year as well. Williams is 2s slower than Mercedes & even with a wet set-up getting to P2 ahead of both Mercedes, a Mclaren, Ashton Martin, Alpine etc were phenomenal !

So a few fast qualifyings and flashes of brilliance are enough to threaten number one at Mercedes? Are our current drivers that horrible?

I think the idea is that Lewis is too comfortable with no competition since 2016.

Fastest car, getting older, no challenge.

But RUS has yet everything to prove so let’s give him a couple of season alongside Hamilton to see

however who knows about next year car? it can change drastically. So I don't think Russel will challenge Hamilton. Just think about Button and Hamilton in Mclaren days. So it is all depending on how the car is.

This horrible driver driving a car that has not been developed and is at best second best should not be leading the title race. Makes you wonder how poor his competition is to allow this to happen.

Anyhow I think Bottas is moving on. Mercedes seem to have gifted him a GTR with the black livery. I think is his parting gift.

He is so horrible he came back to overtake both Max and Bottas to win the race in Portugal. He also hunted Max down in Spain coming from a pit stop down just like Max did to him in France. After busting his ass to get alongside Max on the inside of a corner, he gets penalized by the clueless stewards at Silverstone but still comes back and wins the race. He outqualified Max both in Silverstone and Hungary. Yeah he has been horrible. What a load of rubbish.
