Welcome to the second driver club Sergio, it is only going to go downhill from here. Lucky he has a contract but Marko could just rip it apart. The car must be such a pain to extract time from as it is unlike any car out there, a vet like Perez is going backward, the more he learns the car. Something just doesn't add up. Racepace wise easily the fastest but Perez will have to pull a blinder tomorrow or get lucky.
Monza could be another struggle.

Robert doornbos just said they could probably fix it if its broken due to a safety issue.
But, according to giedo vd garde max told he made an upshift mistake (going from 4 to 6 directly), at the same time DRS should have opened. So he may have lost a bit more time due to the wrong gear.

Edit: the shift issue was turn 3, the drs separate

Why can't they swap Gasly and Perez? They are surely going to lose WCC.

Gasly will still be no quicker than what he is doing with AT. AT will be probably as fast in Monza. Gasly is comfortable with his car why would he want to jump onto a seat that they won't prioritise and make him look bad again. He should wait for next year when they have a new car.

Would they be allowed to fix a potential DRS failure?
I thought they are allowed to repair/exchange anything like for like if there's damage?
A DRS mechanism that doesn't open or, even worse, only opens partially is a potential danger as it might just as well not close fully.

Checko will take an engine penalty. It's a no brainer now

I would as well. I'd take 2, and ditch the oldest from the pool.

I thought you could take extra engines, but you couldn't keep more than the newest 3... :?:

I'm relatively sure that you only keep one of the new ones from the pool with one penalty, they could put in the 4th PU and then instantly switch to the 5th but they'd only be allowed to keep the one they end up using.

Afterall being allowed to keep three new ones which would remove three other engines from the pool wouldn't make any real difference to keeping all of them.

Sergio Pérez will start from the Pit Lane in Zandvoort to avoid future sanctions

As a result of this poor result and taking into account that Sergio Pérez is at the limit in terms of the use of components allowed by the FIA, Red Bull Racing have decided that they will make the maximum possible changes to both the car and the power unit of the car.

I would not be suprised of he had been offered it and refused. Remember the Gasly to Renault saga?

If I were him I would not return except with No1 status there, it almost ruined him last time
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.
