This forum contains threads to discuss teams themselves. Anything not technical about the cars, including restructuring, performances etc belongs here.
I dont think a two stop will work, because the lap is quite short, so lots of traffic to pass every now and then.
I think, assuming Max is leading after lap one with both Mercedes behind, the best strategy is to block Verstappen with Bottas long enough for Hamilton to do an overcut. If he doesnt go for the pit, Hamilton could do the undercut himself.
Max could defend against this, by keeping Gasly and others close behind and not driving too much of a gap, but that could expose them.
Either way, i think i’m going to love this race. As a Monaco vibe to it and the strategic element could be really fascinating.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II #Team44 supporter

They should just cover Hamilton and ignore bottas, he's bound to self destruct at some point during the race anyway, either with an error of some kind or tyre troubles, making him easy pickings.
Although there is a long slow pitstop here, under a VSC it is neutralised, so I am not so sure they will all opt for a one stopper.
It will be a real gamble and some will fall in lucky and others lose out. With so short a lap though, position on leaving the pit is going to be a big player
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.
Are Merc braindead ? Hamilton was 3.6 seconds faster than Max on that last lap. They could've easily put him on used softs or meds when the gap was 1.5 seconds, with 16-17 laps to go. What a throw.

Agree… This year the merc strategy dept has been letting everyone down. Clearly the other car is much faster too, you can compare both second drivers today. So painful.
So that Zandvoort merc oil or whatever update that was rumored was just that. Next race more updates for the other team while Merc just gets another beating.

A bit defeatist no? Everything to play for and plenty of turns of the steering wheel to go
Another shambolic performance by the Merc pitwall. When the margins are that tight, you can't afford to have scrappy or ill-timed pitstops. This race win was definitely possible, although unlikely.

Hard not to be, tbh. They are lacking pace and not trying to make it up with strategy and/or perfect pit stops. Bottas was nowhere today, Perez had great pace. IMHO you can see the difference there, if Merc had a better car Bottas would be up there more often than not. Anyway, onto next weekend, I guess.

Agreed. It was not likely, however they very clearly had a better shot at it with a 3rd stop, and it's flat out bizarre they didn't take the chance.

Agreed.
They also had a shot during the 2nd pitstop, but they chose the absolute wrong moment to pit, with VER slipping away from HAM and HAM being released in traffic... meant that the gap actually increased after the 2nd pitstop!
They really should have thrown the dice and tried a pitstop for hards right as they passed Bottas.
