This forum contains threads to discuss teams themselves. Anything not technical about the cars, including restructuring, performances etc belongs here.
Lando already 6 seconds ahead of Daniel, which shows how big the pace difference between them is
On fresh tyres though.
But the pace Delta is still there… Because his laps are younger, he is on the Hards so he can push for longer too, he will struggle a bit now that he is in the dirty air of Ocon, but he should still have a pace advantage against them.
Now both Alpines are running in the mid 1:14’s, which will probably make them struggle tire wise.
RIC been overtaken by Perez is a shame really, but expected
I told you guys yesterday, I expected nothing from this race. Been only watching some updates every once in a while and I am glad I didn't sit through this. It was clear there were barely going to be any overtakes in this track.
Argh, this car is so dogshit for Daniel. Shouldn't have joined this team. Horrible development direction for him.
Which team do you suggest he should be racing for this season?
Ferrari. Would have suited him far more than the Mclaren.
Anyway in any case this race shows McLaren definitely need to change the design direction completely. If they want success it needs to be fast at every track

It got exciting there for a second
But yes, not a good weekend for the team… There is still a lot to play for in the Championship

There isn't much to analyze to be honest. Now that we came to the track and saw it in person, it just screams McLaren weakness all over.
There are fast corners here, but they are almost flat for everyone, there's nothing to gain. McLaren can gain something on fast corners which require some sort of braking so they can exploit that rear-end stability (corners like Puohon, or Austria T7 and onwards etc).
Here, the fast corners are either flat, or need just a lift. Then there's the slow corners, which are horrible for McLaren. And the very long medium speed corners, which are even more horrible for McLaren. They were so down low in speed traps as well because they strapped so much downforce on that thing to compensate somewhat and still were so slow. It's an inherent weakness that it too strong to go around with setup.
They just have to deal with it in these sort of tracks, and make the best out of tracks which are advantageous. Obviously to have a chance to do that, we have to race in those type of tracks to begin with, but tough luck I guess.
