Looking ahead to Monza- is qualifying on the Friday which sets the grid for sprint quali on the Saturday?

I’m intrigued to see how that pans out as there will only be an FP1 for teams to get a feel for set up and fine tune etc?

To be honest, I am kind of mad that it's Monza's turn for a sprint race. The one race we expect to be kind of decent is the one which increases the chances of random sh*t happening and fking up your race.

Agreed.
I know I keep saying it but it’s a hard life being a Mclaren fan😬
But hey! They aren’t even in Italy yet so let’s try and keep it positive🤣

Apparently Dan had a clutch paddle issue at the start and almost missed it. They had to swap to left paddle launch. A little tough for Dan to swallow having to play roadblock for Lando as he only really got near Dan by virtue of starting on mediums and on a track that you can't pass at. In the end though pretty forgettable weekend for the team. Just no qualli pace at all and questionable race pace.

Ferrari defenetely not putting anything on this year project ..McLaren had the advantage in the 1 st half but their 2nd driver never turned up.Ferrari has been consistent..with the PU upgrade coming , McLaren can write off the 3rd postion in the standing..
I wouldn't count the chickens before they hatch. We all know time and time again that the Italians exxagerate regarding anything about their car. I am pretty sure the Mercedes Engine will still be superior not to mention hearing that Mercedes has found something extra. Mclaren can still have the upper hand to the battle for 3rd.
Aaaaah so if I'm a Ferrari fan but not Italian and I say they're gonna add 200 HP it's true???

That comment is over the edge, IMHO. Watch what you say and how you say it. Try to refrain from using terms like "Italians" "Chinese" etc.

Anyways, the word Fan is and abbreviation of fanatics, exageration is expected.

Don’t you think you’re overreacting there slightly old chum? I can equally state that your reaction is an exaggeration. Let’s find something to get upset about for no reason whatsoever. He said nothing wrong

I'm willing to give Darth the benefit of the doubt and assume that they were referring to the Italian press, who you have to admit, do sometimes get a little over enthusiastic when it comes to Ferrari!!
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

On the other hand, imagine Lando goes and sticks it on pole for Sprint and then wins it.... Bonus points in the fight against Ferrari!!

If I were you, I would lower my expectations for Monza. That last year we were very good does not mean that this year we will do the same. If you also put the subject of the qualifying race, anything can happen. It is much better to have low expectations because the hit later can be much greater.

I agree that our expectations from Monza may be too high, I propose not to make any predictions, so as not to be disappointed later.

Agreed.
The Red bull Honda was a no show last year whereas this year they’ll no doubt once again be in contention for the win- like in Spa

Ignoring the cars strengths and weaknesses, Dan may struggle in turns 6 and 7. Less 7 than 6 I think.

6 is going to require a lot of front DF to be able to execute that corner well, as does seven but there is less braking into 7. 7 leads on to a long straight so it is important for a great exit.

I hope he nails it but I don't see plain sailing for him, especially if the car then struggles in slower corners.

Actually turn 8 could be problematic too for his style.

I'm not upset...just trying to keep it right.

Well see if their PU changes are true and if they make are real time difference.

Tell you what I am ... Very surprised at how good that chassis got over at Ferrari after the 2020 dog.

Think if they had Merc power, they'd be competing with the top 2.

Re: 2021 Mclaren F1 Team

Just needed to clarify something. The post above was refering to the Italian Press who usually exxagerates things a lot and to Ferrari who in the last 5 years rarely delivered to the point that they became a meme. Maybe they find 100 HP more and challenge for the championship or maybe Mercedes found more performance to the engine. Who knows? Perhaps the new engine comes at a reliability cost. All I am saying is that a lot of the Defeatists here should chill. I am betting you the championship for 3rd will go to the last race just like last year and nothing suggests Mclaren doesn't have something up their sleeve.
