Ferrari had more wing than Mercedes in FP1 today.
Yup and I don't understand why
Probably the only way to get a decent S2 and also save the tires. I think they are going to try to tire manage themselves through the race like they did in Austria.

Whew...

Q3 by the skin of their teeth. Good on Charles for driving through his drivability issue. Ferrari just can't have a clean weekend. lol

P13/P17 in 2020 to P7/P8 in 2021. That's a solid improvement.

Ferrari seems to be running a more aggressive rear wing than everyone else so they should be OK for race pace.

PU is vital for 2022. The PU deficit (3-4 tenths or whatever it is) is too much to make up with aero. I don't see Ferrari having a car 0.5s faster due to aero ! I think with the new PU, Ferrari will be @ par with Mclaren atleast even in tracks like Monza & like 3-4 tenths behind RB/Mercedes. Currently it is 7-8 tenths behind on an average.

Binotto admitted that which was good to hear. With the regs so tight and the budget cap you NEED to have a good engine or you just won't be competitive. Mercedes and their customers are well set indeed

And the totally unnecessary weekly FP crashes go on.

Yeah, we’re at 4 weekends in a row now. I don’t think any other team is close. Granted, the car might in fact be hard to drive despite improvements from last year.

Charles
Imola
Monaco(quali)
Baku
Spa

Carlos
Hungary
Zandvoort
Monza

What’s odd to me is the timing. Seems like its increased as the year has progressed.

So Leclerc had to change engines, but they are using engine 1. With #2 being done at monaco, and the #3 here, that leaves them with only 1 available, used engine. They will need to go to #4 at the next race… but likely not the upgraded one.

Also, was he complaining about not feeling well?

Always something with team. Looks like Charles is sick. Hope its nothing serious. Both drivers in the medical tent.

Yeah that radio message from Leclerc sounded like something personal wrong, not a car problem.

Shame about Sainz crash, looked like he pushed a little too hard there. Hope he is okay and can race...

P6/P7 to start tomorrow.

Perez should pass them on pace alone. Other than that, they just need to finish the race and hope McLaren doesn’t win.

Hopefully Carlos’s car is given a good inspection tomorrow. Would hate for him to have the same issues as last week.

The pace wasn't bad. The car is down 2-3-4 tenths down on Mclaren for Monza, part of which can be made up with the PU upgrade. That would bring Ferrari comfortably above Ashton, Alphatauri, Alpine etc otherwise Q3 will be a challenge in every session with so small a gap between the cars !

I guess the PU upgrade can't come soon enough !

Actually it will be P5/P6. Bottas starting from the pit.

Pit-stop strategies and tyre management will be crucial tomorrow. Passing doesn’t look as east as first thought; DRS, especially with a DRS train and those tiny wings, isn’t as advantageous as other circuits.
