Ferrari F60

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Welcome to THE forum, NormalChris. It's my pleasure to meet you.

That statement by Domenicali was made at the launch of the car. But after that time, things are learned, either through research, testing, or any other method (such as observing the competition). The evolution of the car never stops, with the Ferrari factory making changes at an astonishing rate. So the car evolves, and different parts parts are added or changed. Basically, that is what this thread is about. Not only it's configuration, but the changes it undergoes as time, and races pass by.
Dude I think he grasped that, he was commenting on the fact it's not massively (outwardly) different that the launch car, just smoothed out really.

Best regards. I guess this explains why I'm not at my post!

Hey, I don't mind being corrected. But based on the simplicity of the question and the low number of posts in his account, I assumed he was new to this wonderful sport.

There there

Yeah, I was expecting more evolution on the F60 in the long time between launch and now.

More evolution?

So far, at least:
  • Engine cover
    Rear wing,
    Entire sidepod behind opening
Hump behind raised driver protection area
    Exhausts
    Exhaust covers
    Front wing
    Diffuser
    Wheel covers/fairing

Rather than add this to the 19,873 threads on diffusers . . .

Why do we rush to assume that Brawn, Toyota, and Williams are geniuses and Ferrari, McLaren, Renault, Red Bull, et al are stupid?

I think it is POSSIBLE that the "legal, but controversial" diffusers might have been considered but were thought to actually be outside the rules.

I'll dive under my desk now . . .

Good point donskar, especially since those were the teams who helped make those rules

New bargeboard-like aero addition underneath the nose, under suspension :?:

Using the rear wing with the reduced area second plane. And flat bottom first plane.

Missing is the right side airbox camera.

Hallo, I am making a model of F60 now and have a problem - don't know the "floor" shape behind the bargeboards. See picture / the black parts in green circles.

Has anybody clear picture of these area? Maybe from the bottom, as the car was lifted by a crane? Can you help me to make it right?

What caused the double retirement for Ferrari in the Melbourne race?

Was it KERS for Massa and a wall slap for Kimi, or was it both KERS related failures?

As far as I've heard, it's a wall slap from Kimi, probably broken something from that. But Massa... I've just read "problem" so KERS seems likely

Ferrari's official statement says that he suffered from a front wing support failure.

I.e. a nose cone change would have fixed it, but because these are endurance races now with parts having to last over multiple races, they just retired it as there was no chance of points.
