ONGOING NEGOTIATIONS WITH MAX
But as sensational as the announcement will be, Lawrence Stroll has no intention of stopping at Newey and is now aiming for Max Verstappen, with whom negotiations are already underway aimed at 2026. If the world champion were to be convinced (his negotiation channel with Mercedes remains open, in spite of the Red Bull contract valid until the end of 2028), in Aston Martin he would find Newey, perhaps Fallows and above all Honda. At that point, the operation would closely resemble the excavation of the entire top management of the world champion Benetton carried out in 1995 by Jean Todt, who brought everyone to Ferrari: Michael Schumacher, Rory Byrne, Ross Brawn and other valuable engineers. An extraordinary adventure began in Maranello, like the one Stroll is trying to start today. How much longer with Fernando Alonso in the team becomes a detail, and this paradox already explains a lot. Lance Stroll's problem is even sideways and he could be gently, affectionately diverted towards the WEC program on the Valkyrie hypercar.

Don’t think it would be a disastrous move for Max to be fair

It is the best possible move for Max, no doubt. RB will likely continue downhill with the car and with the big question mark about their engine project, I don’t see how AM will not be the place for him. They have all the ingredients now.

It's almost the same structure he had at Redbull...the only 2 people missing would be Marko and Horner...
Would there be a clash of the 'Dads'...Lawrence and Jos? But if Max moves to AMR he would definitely have no1 status.

No, that is way too simplistic. RB was more than Newey and Fallows. Wache, Skinner, Waterhouse, Balbo, and all the people below them. Plus, it is not about the people only, the processes, accountability, decision-making governance are just as important. As Stella and Prodromou have shown a Mclaren.

It would be foolish to expect a billionaire to be bullied by a nobody like Jos. I am sure they would be shopping around with the likes of Charles, Lando and George, while negotiating with Max.

Yes i know that my comment was a very bad over simplication but I do think that AMR can build something very similar or even better than that with the funding they have.

But who would partner max if he did move? To keep stroll in the seat would be a mistake

I hear there's a young fella from Spain who's 9n AMR's radar. Some guy called Alonso.... 😝
If I come across as blunt, I apologise, it's my ASD. Sometimes, like an F1 car aqua-planing, it gets out of my control.

The Marko problem would be an easy fix. Marko will go wherever Verstappen wants him to go after Verstappen's pledge of allegiance earlier this year. The Horner problem also solves itself. Verstappen wouldn't have to work with Horner anymore.

Max's race engineer would most likely transfer to AMR. Milton Keynes and Silverstone are not far apart so there is not much relocation difficulty. AMR could also take a bunch of Red Bull people who were close to Max on the vehicle engineering side. It would be like when Ferrari pillaged Benetton.

Verstappen clearly rued Newey’s impending exit when it was initially confirmed and now his next destination has been revealed, the Dutchman was asked about one day driving a Newey-designed car once again.

“I have other worries at the moment that I'm paying a lot of attention to and I'm working on that,” he replied when it was put to him that Aston boss Mike Krack had said the door would be open to Verstappen to join the Silverstone-based squad.

“That is something maybe for the future that I think about, not now.

“Adrian and I, we have a very good understanding. I sent him also a message after the news came out, even though, of course, I knew that it was coming. So I'm happy for him.

“I also know that Lawrence (Stroll), of course, is pushing flat out to make it a success with Aston Martin, so it's quite understandable, of course, that he wants to have Adrian on his side.”

Max rather than silly season 2024-2025 imo seems more like silly season 2026-2027.

It's possible and not a bad option if Red Bull doesn't perform next year. But, I think that Autosport article is trying to make something out of nothing at the moment.

Because Colapinto doesn't have the lower category success to really deserve an F1 seat. He's doing really well now though and might just get a permanent seat for 2026 or something.

Getting Magnussen to leave mid season will be nearly impossible for HAAS, his contract is almost certainly stronger than what Sargeant had, and buying him out isn't an option for HAAS.
Many were claiming Bearman was a poor choice for HAAS (pay driver, manipulated British karting etc), yet Bearman outqualifies the qualifying ace Hulkenberg...

Go figure! :wtf: =D>
