Norris was impeded by at least a tenth by one of the red bulls in middle sector and had another moment elsewhere in the track. Verstappen's lap also wasn't that clean in S1, but rest looked ok.

Hamilton's long run looked great

Point out any mistakes if you notice them.

- in the averages section Russell and Perez are listed as HAM and VER respectively
He just arbitrarily removes certain lap times though. Like Lewis drove a 17,5 when his tyres first started to drop. That's an X here. Contrast with Alonso where he keeps a 17.9 from the first lap. You'd think it would be relatively straightforward but you can always make the numbers sing a false tune.
I presume the 17.5 from ham was due to traffic whereas the 17.9 for Alonso was due to warmup? In the race warmup is something you deal with, so it should be counted. But free practice traffic issues should be excluded

STATEMENT FROM SCUDERIA ALPHATAURI
After today's incident during Free Practice 2 in Zandvoort, in which Daniel Ricciardo hit the barrier at Turn 3, he was brought to the local hospital and further examinations were carried out. An X-ray confirmed he sustained a break to a metacarpal on his left hand, and this injury will not allow him to continue his duties, so he will be replaced by the team's reserve driver Liam Lawson for the remainder of this weekend. The team wishes him all the best for the quickest possible recovery.

Further updates will be released in due course.

This. A lot of work but I have stopped trusting these numbers some time ago.

When I have done stuff like this, I usually exclude laps That are slower than their fastest lap + some delta, unless its obvious the tires have fallen off the cliff.

De Vries would be the safe choice, and you'd think he would be pretty motivated to have a good showing. I doubt Nyck would say no if they asked, so this must be RB wanting to give Lawson a look while also potentially not wanting to entertain going back down the de Vries well. A touch of pride getting in the way maybe?
Marko and pride getting in the way. Surely not
No point putting De Vries back in the car. This is an opportunity to somewhat evaluate Lawson without him feeling the pressure of having to beat Tsunoda.
Lawson's pressure will be self-imposed

16.8 medium tire average for stroll makes you wonder where Alonso where end up. Alonso's hard tire average is already quicker than Stroll's medium run. Aston might be back (at least relative to Mclaren and Mercedes)
Alonso was also running the old floor in FP2, Stroll the new one. So there's probably some room for improvement.

I broke my 5th metacarpal as a teenager, and it took surgery, a metal plate. 6 screws, and 9 months to heal...👀
Yeah, these things can be pretty complex depending on how/what is broken; a simple crack could heal rather quickly, but fully broken and dislocated can take quite a long time.
It was a weird, almost silly crash imho, didn't seem pretty forcefull. Understandably he chose the barrier instead of Piastri to crash into, but it looked kinda silly. Was surprised to read it was broken, but well .. that's how it goes sometimes. MS jumped out of cars that crashed at 300kph, but became a vegetable by just falling over backwards in a very unlucky manner while standing still (or at least, that's what my head thinks that happened).

Anyway, rain forcasted till end of the morning, quali should be dry though track will be green.

I can’t see Daniel driving in Monza either.
As little as this injury is, it will have big big consequences I fear. This might just be the harbinger of Daniel's career.

I feel a similar sentiment. Bad timing for his future aspirations. and if Lawson performs in these next two GPs....Daniel is screwed.

There's some cruel irony in Piastri being involved stuffing Daniel, for the second time...not on purpose of course, but he's involved...

Could be the start of Lawson's F1 dominance! Tom Brady vibes?

It'll be unpopular take because it's at Daniel's expense, but I think new faces are better than returning old faces. I'm happy for Lawson to get a shot!
